Well got a question on pred.

shocked Hi I am going on pred.for a quick treat as I am having some problems. Now have you ever done 40mgs and just went off after 5 days without a taper. I have done some reading on the net which says 3 days is alright, but what do you think about that? rolleyes lol gail

Ah...well...I haven't ever tried that..my doctor put me on 40 mg when I first started taking it, but he told me to taper by 10 mg every week and decided that it was much too quick in the end. I would be too paranoid to try it, but if there are credible sources saying that it's all right and/or your doctor approves I don't see why not? Just don't hurt yourself >:(
20 years old, Diagnosed with moderate to severe Crohn's and Colitis in May of 2008.
Currently taking:
Prednisone 30 mg, pentasa 2 pills 4x a day, bentyl as needed, prilosec in the morning, tandem plus, humira every other week, and good probiotics.
Surgery for ectopic pregnancy most likely the result of severe Crohn's inflammation in July of 2008.
Attempting the specific carbohydrate diet. Cheated once for Christmas.

Hi Thanks that is a bit worrisome to me it was my GP that said it was a go but I am a bit concerned. I start them tomorrow so see how it goes. They really give me bad hearburn so got some med for that too. lol gail

I have done lots of prednisone burst in my life, mostly for asthma. Most commonly the doc would prescribe a 40-30-20-10 regime for 5 days. Have done that many, many times. In fact, my rheumy had me do that twice this summer for lupus problems. You might want to call the GP's office and verify his instructions.

HI I asked to make sure and the answer was no taper and I did say that I didn't want to go into adrenal shock but the answer was the same. Perhaps I"ll call the drug store.lol gail
