Hey everyone, hope you're all trying to hang in there w/ the cold and all scool .

So I have a question. We just got a new juicer and my borther and dad have gone all juice-crazy blending in different things and drinking them a lot for supposed good health. I've heard of course that not only is juicing good for you, but is especially good for the immune system especially stuff like carrots and stuff. So I had a full cup of carrot and pineapple juice (pure-directly from the juicer) today, and within an hour or two I rushed to the bathroom -it was diarrhea and I realized what had come out was just the juice. I was talking to a friend about it, and she said that going to the bathroom right/soon after juicing isn't always neccessarily bad for it cleanses your system, unlike other things we drink or eat that stay in our system for days (in my case - hours).  It sounded really logical to me, and I don't recall really any pain, however we're so different when it comes to stuff like this that I just thought I'd ask some of you guys and see if anybody has had any experience with this or if there are specific rule-of-thumbs I should remember or something. Of course I know some obvious no-brainers like no PRUNE JUICE!! Lol that stuff goes right through me of course. Also, for most of you who don't know, I don't have a colon so thins go through me much much faster and I could dehydrate extremely fast.

Also one more thing; anybody ever have any BAD experiences with probiotics??

Are you sure the pineapple might not have been too much? I've heard of a lot of people having trouble with that one...I do all right peach, blueberry, watermelon, and so on. Skins off on all of them though...

Probiotics gave me a little bit of bloating and gas at first, but that's to be expected when you're changing the balance of bacteria population within the gut. I do much better with them now and no problems at all.

I still need to find a good juicer of my own..

Oh, and have you tried coconut juice? Or dollop of the oil? It's supposed to be pretty good for you.

i have a juicer but i dont use it as often a i'd like. first i forget i have it since i have a small counter top so it is hidden away in the cupboards. and then what you said happens to me as well from time to time. so i only juice in small amounts, like 1 oz at a time. i normally eat my fruit and veggies to make sure i get the fiber juicing strips away.

i have the omega8003 juicer. get it from mercola.com

I juice spinach and also filter it again and then throw it into some soups. It is the only way I get dark leafy greens.

Hey now thats a smart idea - to actually juice the spinich first before filtering and actually throwing it in soup!
You know, I figured most of us wouldn't do too well with juicing but its just as I've been saying in practically all my posts - I need to boost my immune system in any way possible that obviously doesn't affect my other areas. I'll try in small incriments as you said Harry, meanwhile testing which fruits and veggies I can tolerate at least a little (I don't tolerate most - especially raw). Also I'm sooooooo bad with ANYTHING that doesn't taste GOOOOOD! http://www.healingwell.com/community/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ...my weakness I guess.

My son bought me a fancy one a few Xmas's ago. Unfortunately I think one needs an engineering degree to assemble it. I used to juice a lot but find now any kind of sugar overload from fruits goes right to my joints. I do however eat a variety of Veggetables and pulses (my protein source) in varoius soup blends. Most of them I try to grow Organically myself, I cook, blitz and then seive and by doing this have avoided more partial obstructions for awhile now. That's what works for me, I can eat a Banana and miss all the other fruits , just cannot do it without problems so try to take my Vitamins daily to compensate.

I have had bad experiences with vitamins so I'm always careful on what I take. One time I took one (I remember it was "Coral Calcium") on like a half-empty stomach and I almost ended up in the ER. The pain I was having in my stomach was the scariest most unbearable pain and discomfort - I seriously thought it had made a hole in my stomach. And I could just feel something just stuck there. And this wasn't the first bad experience with vitamins..just the worse! Do you think they don't mix well with the meds I take as well?

So anyways now I'm slowly starting to take these really good probiotic capsules cause with all the immunosuppresants I'm on I defiantly need them now more than ever. I've done well with probiotics once before, but at that time I was going through the whole holistic thing - had stopped all my meds, no carbs/starches, no dairy, no sugars. Yup..didn't last 2 months before going back to my old ways - I'm sorry but it was just toooooo extreme (especially the no sugar part)! But I'm just hoping that wasn't the only reason I was doing well with the probiotics and that hopefully I won't have any probs now.
