Many crohnies including myself suffer with acid reflux/gerd. I have to take Prilosec everyday. Are you taking Pred by any chance? That could cause some probs like that too.

Hi Nanners, thanks for the speedy reply. Yep am on prednisolone. Do you reckon that would be the cause? Its happening everytime i eat, even if its only a piece of bread.

Yep, try some over the counter stuff like rolaids or such.
Most of us crohnies who get heartburn will eventually go on to use presciption heartburn meds.
But you do have to watch out for ephosgeal spasms.
Have you had an EGD done?

Yes the Pred does it to me too. I am on Pred right now, but I think the Prilosec is helping me to avoid the bad indigestion. MMMNavy's suggestion of rolaids, tums, or even something like over the counter Zantac or Tagamet might help alot. Good luck!

An EGD is the scope they put down your throat and look at your stomach and first part of your small intestine. You are sedated for it, so don't worry. But I really think what you are experiencing right now is from the Prednisone. I would mention it to your doc and maybe he can prescribe a short course of something to help out while you are on the Prednisone. Good luck!

My Crohnie friend suffers from this lately also, so I ploughed through some of my herbal books and they recommended drinking some herbal tea to help like Lemom Balm, its an easy herb to grow in a pot somwhere and you could dry the leaves to make the tea yourself. Worth a try if you don;t want to add any more pills etc to what you already take.

I do indeed have it, but I take omeprazole and it's like it was never even there. I notice a big difference when I forget to refill the prescription on that one too. Not very much fun..
