Happy Holidays, I got bed bugs from Santa. I am so disgusted and stressed. We have an exterminator coming tomorrow to start treatment of the house. Today we were at the laundry mat running all of our clothes and linens through the dryer for 30 minutes and sealing them in plastic bags. The extermination process is going to cost a small four figure fortune. In addition to that we have to board our pets at the vet while the exterminator is working and the covers that we now need to purchase for the mattresses, box springs and pillows are going to cost close to $1000. My husband recently lost his biggest client due to the current economy so things were going to be a little tight going forward to begin with and now we have to spend close to a total of $5000 (that we don't have)to hopefully rid ourselves of these pests. I was already sick last week with a virus and really hope the stress of my "visitors" doesn't cause a flare up.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Oh, man, that sucks! We used to go through a similar (but less expensive) process whenever our kids brought pinworms home from school. As my daughter's friend's three-year-old says, "It isn't faird!"

I am not sure that I can rely on the pest control company that services the complex since it was ME who discovered the bed bug! They had sprayed for everything but!! Any suggestions on who to call??

they dont eat much! i saw a tv show once , not too long ago, that said the main infested areas of the country were in the north east. hotels, homes etc.. do you or family travel? if so thats probably where they came from.. if they got in the luggage you brought them home. so i would check and or get rid of any luggage that maybe might be infested as well. carpet is supposedly bad for them too. they hide in the cracks between the carpet and the baseboards coming out at night. good luck, i will think positve thoughts on your success... that would be anight mare for me. i cant sleep if i see a bug or spider before bed. it has to be found and killed before i can sleep.

Have you checked with your home owners insurance to see if it will cover the cleanup as a rodent or biologic issue? I know that it is a long shot, but what is the worst thing that they can say? No? I would see if they will help you out.
