I saw my GI today and they told me that my blood tests they ran in November showed an elevated blood sugar.  They figure it was from the prednisone.
My concern is Diabetes runs in my family.  Has anyone here had an elevated sugar while on pred that went away when you got off?

I did.  In fact, I had to have a little shot of insulin when I was in the hospital and on 60mg of pred.  They just told me to water my apple juice (too much sugar), and once I tapered a bit the blood sugar went back to normal.  From what I understand, it can become a permanent problem, though, so with that family history I would definitely keep an eye on it.

Yes, me too. I had steroid induced diabetes for a week or so while in the hospital. Come home with insulin kit and all but it went away while on lower doses.

I had been on pred for about ten months and the day after I stopped it I started Entocort, now I am tapering off of it and going to try Cimzia. Diabieties runs in my family and my blood sugar went up on it, also my blood pressure. I haven't had my blood sugar checked since off the pred and I'll be off the Entocort in about 5 more weeks. My blood pressure has come down and I am assuming my blood sugar has dropped some too. I'm dropping prednisone weight right now and that helps.

Yes, actually! It was so terrible that I would be shaking uncontrollably and start crying for no reason. That happening when I wouldn't eat something in the morning of course. It got much better after I started weaning down and making sure I was getting something in my body during that time. It really did mess around with that for a while though...what a bother! But it helped so many other things.
