Hey everyone,
I've been off the site for a while, trying to get through the holidays.  I've really been struggling and have been in the hospital 2 times since Nov.  They keep telling me the Cimzia is working, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that one.  I haven't gone back on the steroids like they want (except for short burst in the hospital).  I did go back on Methotrexate and they keep telling me it may take a while to see the benefits.  I've kept up my journaling, and I think it's the one thing keeping me sane.  I write everything down and bring it to whatever dr. they have me see next.  I've been having problems with eye infections, rashes, night fevers, and body aches.  Oh not to mention the D, belly pain, and nausea. My GI is thinking of going to every 3 weeks on the Cimzia, but not sure insurance is going to go for that.  I'm going to try to check in with the site more often, because I have missed the support.  I hope everyone had the best holidays possible and best health in the new year!

love to all,
kimmy

Hi gail,
I made it through and my kids had a good Christmas, that's alll that matters to me. I was able to be out of the hospital for them, which I was extremely greatful for. I'm hoping to get some results from the Methotrexate soon, and some results from all my testing. I'm trying to keep a positive mind set and believe this year is going to be a turn around year. I have a lot of milestones to look forward to. My oldest son will be a senior (looking at colleges now), I will turn the big 40, and my youngest son will go to high school (he swims competitively and has qualified for Southeasterns in Ten. in February). I have a lot to be greatful for , especially my kids. I just wish like most of us I could reach a point in my disease where it doesn't rule my life. I wish I could find that magic dr. who will come up with something to try that works. Thanks for your support and kind words!

Hey Kimmy sorry to hear you still are feeling rough. Sometimes I swear it takes forever to get these flares under control doesn't it. Hopefully the Cimzia and MTX will kick you into remission soon. Don't be such a stranger.

Hi Gail I've been on the Cimzia since late July. I was the first one from my dr. to go on it. I keep trying to have faith that this drug will work better. I am running out of options, because of the debilitationg side effects of Remicade and Humira. I was stuck on steroids for 2 years and got off them back in August and refuse to go back there. We are having trouble dealing with all the other than intestinal side effects of this disease. Lucky me, I seem to have them all. I'm still hoping the journaling will show some kind of pattern or a light bulb moment. I go back to work on the 6th and can't wait to see my class, and hear about their holidays. I think getting back in a routine may help. I also am going to try to quit smoking AGAIN and hope it doesn't mess with my belly as bad as every other time I've tried to quit/ Wish me luck!
