My GI put me on Prednisone 2 weeks ago and besides the weight gain (11lbs) my emotional state is in the crapper now...I'm depressed and moody, pissy about everything, feeling really down and out. Is this a side effect of the Prednisone? I'm already taking 9mg daily of Entocort, could the 2 corticosteroids together be to much? I'm really frustrated about this. Help!

Hi Marcie I have never taken the two together and have only taken the pred. But I will say I did feel a bit strange on it .Could you talk to your Dr. about it ? The only thing got me threw the pred. was knowing I wouldn't be on it forever and being on the computer alot helped. How much pred are you on when you taper it gets better too. Hopefully others might know more about it. lol gail

Blame the pred, it sucks. What dose are you on?
Dx'ed in 1999. No surgeries.

Current meds: 25mg Methotrexate. 12.5mg prednisone. Udo's Choice Probiotics (30 billion).

Tried SCD, didn't work, now avoiding gluten and dairy.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. My GI started me at 40mg Pred per day but am now down to 20mg per day and in 2 weeks will be off the Pred completely. I also take 9mg Entocort every day. I guess the two together are just a bit much for me...good to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel! Thank you!

pred alone can cause mood swings/depression, don't worry, it will get better especially once you're finally off of it.

Yeah.... I'm a lot less depressed now that I'm off of the prednisone... :)
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.
