Anybody had this done for a stricture or something else? My GI mentioned it after my colonoscopy on Tuesday but I thought maybe we would wait awhile. Just got a call and the procedure is scheduled for January 19th. Found a little more on the internet now that the receptionist called it a pelvic ultrasound. Different types of pelvic ultrasound but this would be a transrectal ultrasound. It says it is a good tool for guiding needle biopsies. Also says ultrasound waves are disrupted by air or gas so not ideal for the bowel. Guess we will know more before too long.

I've had a vaginal one done. I think it was to get a better look at my ovarian cyst.

I had the rectal one. I was flaring - was 6 weeks after resection. Went to the Er. Was in horrible pain. They gave me morphine, THEN they did did it. I dont remember much (could be the morphine) but it was uncomfortable. I've had worst tests. Good luck.

I had the vaginal ultrasound done to check on a pregnancy. It seemed to be pretty effective in pinpointing all of the problems I was having. It wasn't terribly uncomfortable(compared with the pain I was having at the time), but I obviously can't speak for the rectal one...I would ask for some sort of painkiller if it's possible.

Just had the procedure (endoscopic ultrasound) done yesterday. Not normally sedated but I asked to be put out as mine wasn't the normal application for this. After he basically said the stricture was deep scar tissue and although they cannot rule out cancer 100%, it is very unlikely. They did not find any mass within the stricture that would warrant a needle biopsy which has it's own risks.
