nono  Frustrated2 Here

Just an update as to how my DR's appt went. Well the first Dr I saw was a real jerk. To start with he didn't even examine me. He hadn't looked at any of my test results. He proceeded to tell me that the surgery I had had caused my abcesses(yeah right). Then he went on to say that my surgery wasn't needed in the first place(In the meantime I would have continued puking my guts out etc.) He kept insisting that it was irriitable bowel (not Crohn's). I told him the foods that I couldn't eat anymore and he told me Its just junk food. Then when I asked him about the pillcam he told me he didn't feel it was warranted because it wouldn't show anything and that it would be a waste of money(unfortunately our medical doesn't cover the cost). He then wrote me a Rx for Buscopan and said that I was only to take it when I felt that I had to go to emerg.  I could go on but I think you get the picture. I walked away from there so disillusioned that by the time I got home I was in tears. I phoned my own Dr when I got home and told her about my appt. She couldn't believe it. She said that it ws great we were getting a second opinion. :-)  I went for my 2nd opinion This Dr was great and compassionate. He examined me and pressed where the sore area was and I just about went through the roof. He said that there was definatley inflamation there. He is going to investigate this further. He sent me for blood work and another CT scan. He doesn't think I have Crohn's either but I'm still glad he's looking into this further.

The nerve of some doctors honestly..I'm sorry your first appointment went the way that it did, but I'm glad to your other doctors are able to grasp the true situation. Thanks for keeping us updated! I hope you continue to do so and that you get well soon :)

Why doesn't the second Dr. think you have crohn's either?

Kinda weird for a doc to say that until they've done tests first, he should have said he wasn't sure if it was CD or not, rather than just saying he doesn't think it's CD either...CD can be very tricky for some patients and a good GI would be aware of that.

Hi, frustrated2

Sorry that your first appointment didn't go well.  You seem very sharp, and can quickly tell the sincere and dedicated from the arrogant and judgemental.  This will keep you on a good path if you have to stay in the medical world for long.  I hope your second doctor keeps working well for you.  I think that humility is so important, because this illness is so hard to diagnose.  You may not have Crohn's, which would be good, but whatever you have should be carefully diagnosed.

How are you feeling, though?

Hi
Thanks for the support.

pb4: the 2nd doc doesn't think I have it because the biopsy came back negative. But he is still going to investigate.

pix: I'm feeling okay having good days and bad days been really tired and achy the last couple of days don't no if it's the flu or associated with whats going on. Still quite alot of pain on the right side.

gachrons: I had a laporoscopy with them taking out my appendix. not sure when the abcesses showed up but I think they where there before I went into the hospital. i had one on the right side just above my liver and the other one was on the left just under my rib cage

.
I'll continue to keep everyone updated
