I was severely constipated when I was diagnosed. My symptoms have never included D, and from what I understand, that's kind of unusual for Crohn's.
Asacol 1200 mg. 3 times daily, Rowasa enema AM & PM,
probiotics, lots of hope and prayers! 51 years old, diagnosed formally 10-06. If it doesn't kill ya, it'll only make you stronger!

You might want to put a call into your doc and get some testing done. You could have some narrowing going on somewhere causing the C. Good luck and keep us posted.

right sided pain is also a symptom of appendicitis.  You should call your doctor.

This happens to me also.. I either descibe it as being like "labor pains" or like "the worst Charlie horse imaginable"... I was diagnose with Crohn's/Colitis 16 years ago, and then when I started to develop the symptoms you've described I ended up being diagnosed with proctitis too, this was a few years ago... When this is flaring up I use Canasa and after a few days to a week I usually get back to "normal" or close enough... The trick with it is to notice that I'm starting to get constipated and start using the suppositories BEFORE the cramping comes... it takes much longer for them to start working once the cramping hits. And as you've obviously noticed, it is so completely incapacitating. I think that sometimes this is worse than the Crohn's symptoms!

I am going through the same thing too. Strange how I actually can start missing going to the bathroom. I haven't gone in 5 days. I will have urgency and go on the toilet and basically feel like I am trying to push a baby out. I look and there is only a little blood and a little mucous.

I just started the canasa suppositories too and it will usually take about a week for things to get better. This is the 2nd or third time I have had this end of the spectrum.

On a positive note, I don't get the fatigue or joint pain with these symptoms.

I would put a call into your doctor if I were you. I didn't understand these symptoms and know how to treat it until a few years ago my doctor did a sigmoid and found the proctitis.

Hope you feel better soon.

its rarely appendicitis tho. right sided pain, and in the back, is classic crohn's in the ileum. im not sure why people think diarreah is the only symptom of crohn's, the breakdown is more like 50/50 between D and constipation. if you disease is located primarily in the ileum, you will naturally have more constipation. i hate that back pain, its so fricken annoying

It's my understanding that whether you have Diarrhea or constipation is dependent upon the person. I thought some people would have one while flaring and some would have the other. Correct me if I'm wrong...
