I was just thinking about all the recent posts from people who are really feeling down at the moment.  It makes me feel so sad and blue!

In the movie The Sound of Music, Fraulein Maria listed her favorite things in order to lift the spirits of the children.  I admit I find myself singing her song when I get blue.  Still just a silly girl, I guess!  Here is the song if you want to sing along.

My Favourite Things (Sound Of Music)

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
brown paper packages tied up with strings,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,
door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings.
these are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in a white dresses with a blue satin sashes,
snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,
silver white winters that melt into springs,
these are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
when I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don't feel so bad.

(repeat song)

Some favorite things of mine that lift my spirits are sitting in front of a roaring fire with a cup of hot coco, and splashing in puddles after a big rain.  How about you??

Diagnosed early 2007 with rectal Crohn's.  Several peri-rectal abscesses and two fistulas with setons.  Allergic to Remicade and Humira.  Currently on 6MP.

That is great.  My favorite thing is seeing the face of a student who finally catches on.  I love teaching.

I love it when my two teenage daughters are getting along. (which is rare lately) I love to hear them giggle and laugh while sharing a secret or when they are working together to paint each other's nails. It reminds me of when they were little and life was so much simpler.

I'm with Fallcolors and sitting by a roaring fire with cocoa, but if mine can be home made Irish Cream all the better!

I love when I have the get up and go to do all the baking and sewing that I love to do, which doesn't seem to be right now (might just be the incredible cold and my desire to stay under a blanket!!!!!) I love snuggling up spoon like at night with my cat on one side and my husband on the other, and I'm the filling of the sandwich! But most of all I love when my daughters are happy, cause then all is right with my world!

Last night after I'd finished a few chores and put the goats away in the barn I went in and sat down to spend some time with them, one of the little kids Poppy comes over and jumps up onto my lap and contentedly starts chewing her cud, then another kid Tinx comes over and wants a cuddles as well. they are just so cute with there beautiful wavy fibre, they really snuggle in and relax, its just the best medicine.

ditto to cocoa and puddles. Cuddling my baby girl is the current favorite. Also walks in the woods on a crisp day.

kitten whiskers and schnitzel are pretty nice too.
Hoping to stay in remission after the birth of a healthy baby girl. On Pentasa during my pregnancy, went med-free 2 months to nurse (stupid), but back on Pentasa and still nursing.

Fallcolors and Fraulein Maria inspired me! I made Auntie Annie's pretzels ( 2 kinds, Salt and Cinn. Sugar) and finished a quilt top this afternoon! That's 2 off my favorite things list. My cat and husband will snuggle me tonight and we always have Sunday dinner by a roaring fire on Sunday night in the winter. So by the end of the weekend I will have almost all of my list checked off! One daughter is happy as a clam, but the other one has to go back to the dorms on Monday and she hates her roommate, so sadly, not everything will get checked off my list. But I'll take what I can get. And My daughter will be home again next Friday, and every weekend until spring.

Thanks for getting me out of my chair and getting me going!!!!

Getting homework done and making good grades makes me feel unbelievably good. Unfortunately, I added my precalc class too late so I had a quiz the day after my first class and got a FIVE out of twenty...I am not that bad at math...
BUT! I still think I can do really well :) Keeping a sunny outlook in spite of everything.
Other things? My animals(ten cats at and two dogs), cinnamon muffins with peppermint tea, and the smell of coffee or bacon. And sleeping in with my fiance..

Hi I like the peaceful feeling when a storm is over and the yard is shovelled and things just calm down, the new growth of flowers in the spring and getting out after spending months cooped up in the house, knowing my teen is home ,watching my dog eat his treats , and the sun sets and rises in life that seem to be a part of life ,happy birds chopping away at seeds , the fire burning and a hot coffee..when the cold temperatures finally subside.. lol gail

A few of my favorite things --
-- My warm woollen mittens on a day like today. Brrrrrrrr! here in Washington DC! Now I'm settling in with hot coco, a wonderful fire, and the wiskers on my two purring kittens!
-- The way the early morning sunlight makes my bedroom glow.
-- Walks in the quiet woodlands along the Patuxent river.
-- The smell of spring's first cutting of grass.
-- The feel of my ultra soft, cozy sweater.

Gail-you hit the nail on the head with the sunrises and sunsets. There is just nothing else like them...and then fallcolors with the sunlight glow in a well lite bedroom...maybe there is just something about the sun in general. And I don't mean the vitamin D! It makes such beautiful scenes in our lives.

I agree, LMills! Walking through the woods in dappled sunlight makes my heart sing! Just something about sunlight. But I also love starlight -- a dark moonless night sky sparkling with bright jewels.

Walking on the beach at midnight with the moon relecting off the waves.

Crisp, clear, fall days at the height of leaf color (hence my name).

The smell of baking cinnamon buns and fresh cold apple cider!
