I am trying to learn more about this disease.  My husband went to the doctor and had elevated liver enzymes.  He had an ultrasound, catscan, and biopsy so far.  They said his biopsy looks like a drug reaction, but he had not been taking anything OTC or otherwise.  He's currently seeing a specialist, but they haven't been able to identify what is going on with him, and it sounds like their plan is to monitor the now 725 ALT to see if it continues to go up.  They have ruled out all of the hepatitises, lupus, cancer, and others.  We found out recently that my husband's 22 yr old neice has Chrons disease and while researching that, I came accross primary sclerosing cholangitis and it kind of fits.  He doesn't have abdominal pain, jaundice, or any type of bleeding though, so I don't know. He does have itching.  Please help~I would like to know if I should even mention this to the doctor.

I was recently diagnosed with PSC after becoming jaundiced. Looking at blood tests, my doc originally thought it was hepatitis, but after an ultrasound and MRI, they diagnosed PSC, and prescribed Ursofalk, which cleared up the jaundice. I haven't had any problems with that since.

What did the ultrasound and CAT scan show?

They both came back normal.  From what I read, they do an internal scope and an imaging test to diagnosis this.  Can they tell from an ultrasound or catscan?

For me, they did an ultrasound on my abdomen, and noticed that the bile ducts of my liver were narrowed, and had a beaded appearance. Apparently thats a distinguishing feature of PSC. They did an MRI to confirm the diagnosis.
