Hi Daisy,
I would ask your family doctor to maybe refer you to a Rheumy if he or she feels this would benefit you.
I see a Rheumy for my AS and he also gives good advice re - medication for my Crohn's, he sees a lot of CD patients who have some form of Arthritis. You could always just try your family dr and if you get no relief ask for a referral for a Rheumy.
Good luck and keep us posted :)

Hi Daisy, I seen a rheumy doctor I have osteoarthritis and RA plus my Crohn's. I would see a rheumy dr. It
could not hurt.
Hi, I am teddybearweiser, I am a male.
I was diagnosed with crohns disease when i was admitted to the hospital

in 1992, in Jan of 1993 I was back in the hospital for surgery for my crohns. I had part of my right colon resectioned with ilecolonstomy.

My GI doctor has me on Asacol, Dicyclomine,Imuran,Celebrex and Remicade. B-12 injection once a month.
Also diagnosed with Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

If a person has multiple autoimmune issues like me ie Crohn's, Arthritis, Asthma, and Scleritis of the Eye, all doctors will agree to get a Rheumy to be your quarterback to call the shots on your immunal suppressants since they supposedly are the most current.

I've tryed but in the real world, 99% will only treat the Arthritis. So, I put myself in charge and work with my Gastro since most all of the above hinge upon the Crohn's.

I had to do alot of homework on each disease to win his respect and I pretty much get to do what I want, especially in the Scleritis department.

Put your Google to work and learn everthing you can about your disease(s). A little knowledge won't hurt any way.

Retired male in late 60's. Perforated Colon in 92. Diagnosed as Ulcerative Colitis in 93. Uncontrolled flareup in 97 dictated J-pouch surgery. 04 Capsule endoscopy diagnosed as Crohns not UC. Emergency surgery in 05 to remove lodged camera capsule. Biopsies positively diagnosed Crohns at that time. 12/06 Unsucessfully tried Naltrexone(LDN). 2/07 developed scleritis of the eye, tearing and detaching the retina. Treated with high doses of Prednisone. 6/07 Thought eye was healing and started taking Entocort counting on the residual (non-systemic portion) as treating the eye. Wrong. In October eye was not stabilized. 11/07 Started Remicade to try and reduce the ocular inflamation of the Scleritis since I had been requiring more and more Prednisone to keep the eye quiet. 12/07, retina tares and detaches again. Started Remicade every 4 weeks plus 20mg of Prednisone per day. Six months and seven infusions later, good eye is back to 20/14. Bad eye is 20/70. Had cataract surgery on June 05 on bad eye. Eye returned to a correctable visionary level of 20/50. 11/08 had reaction to Remicade; trying to keep going with Imuran and Pred. Need corrective eye surgery and fitted for prism lense to correct that eye from turning out.  Life looks fairly good (literally) today.
Married with 4 grandkids.
