For those of you following my Reclast infusion saga...yes, I am at a "small" risk for developing necrosis of the jaw due to this lovely class of drugs.  It is of greater risk for someone taking this class of drugs the longer you take them.  Once an infusion of Reclast is given it stays in the body for 10 years....get ALL dental work completed before starting these drugs!
Having said that, I have salvagable teeth on my lower jaw but the dentist/oral surgeon and myself have chosen to remove all of my lower teeth.  I already wear an upper full plate.  This way if any teeth were to give me trouble in the future, I don't have to worry about losing the jaw bone with it.
I go for the 2nd oral surgeon consult next Tuesday (NO, I didn't choose the first jerk) and from there we schedule surgery based upon my need for antibiotics (cellulitis in the face again) and what my pocketbook can stand.
I stopped my Humira on the 3rd of the month and my Imuran last weekend in preparation for this. All is well on the CD front for now.  Will keep everyone posted as I get through all of this.
Have an excellent, symptom free day today if you can! wink

I have a question? By dental work, you mean root canals, fillings that type of thing? Not just cleanings right? How would you know what might come up in the next 10 years? I'm just wondering since I see my Endocrinologist in a few weeks and we always have to discuss what treatment I should be pursuing for my osteoporosis. She had suggested what I think was reclast, but in its trial phase, a while back. But I didn't quite fit the profile yet. I want to be as aggressive as possible, given my age, but not at the expense of my teeth.

Thanks for any info. And I'm glad you found a better Doctor. That other one was a first class ^SS
