I've been having really loud intestinal gurgling for months, and I don't know what to do to reduce it! I think it's caused in part by a stricture in my small intestine. I've been on Humira for a couple of months, which has eliminated most of my symptoms, but the gurgling still comes and goes. Today it was really loud, which can be embarrassing in quiet school and work settings! Any help or suggestions??

Thanks!

I have had that gurgling, and also some "sloshing" when I have had a lot of fluid intake. It seems to be the very worst right before a flare, and I also attribute it to a stricture. Sometimes, I have had a little relief by eating some of the "right" kind of yogurt. Let me know if that helps.

Before she was diagnosed, my daughter's gurgling could be heard across the room. A pediatrician suggested, while she was on an antibiotic for a bacterial infection, that she take yogurt.

The yogurt dramatically reduced the gurgling (yes, it did turn out to be a stricture). Then, once she was diagnosed, we found out about the SCD diet and made our own yogurt. She is in college, living in the dorms,  but faithfully makes her own yogurt.

Hi Lousky

I'm having that exact same problem with noise. Losts of gurgling and at times it can keep me awake at night. Mine is due to a stricture which today im going into hospital to have a operation ( Resection ).

Don't worry to much about the noise because I can say I've had that going on for a few years. But with the added feeling its really uncomfortable enough is enough.

I wish you well.

Medication at present 6mg Budesnoide, 200mg Azathioprine, 3000mg Pentasa.

Operation due 28th Jan due to narrowing stricture.

I get it a lot, too, esp right before my next Humira injection and when I'm about to flare.

We usually giggle when it does it in a meeting or something. At least it's not a fart!
