I have not posted in a while. Humira is working well for my CD. I have a bad sinus infection and am just sick so I am having a rough couple weeks. I am just not able to get better. It is taking so long this time. I keep calling the doc and he says give the antibiotics time to work. Well it has almost been a week and I get sicker everyday. I am actually on 2 cold meds at once now nono

I made an apt with a ENT hoping they would give me something stronger. I am ready to ask for a steroid or something just to clear this infection up!

I hope everyone is doing well. I will try to post more often. I have been so busy at work I never use the computer at home....

Take care,
Karen

Hi Karendee, you have been missed. I had the sinus infection from Hades last month and the doc gave me Augmentin. I was supposed to take for 10 days but only made it 8 1/2 because the D it gave me was not pleasant. BUT......it worked to kill my sinus infection.

Sure hope you get feeling better soon.

I does seem like that time of year.  I baby sit for a friends 15 month old and he has croup.  So I'm sure I'm in for a doozy soon.  Lucky for me, I have my annual physical already scheduled for 12 days from now, just in time to get the antibiotics I'm sure I will need.  It stinks that when we get sick, we just can't shake it.  My daughter has the stomach thing that was going around.  I made her a bunch of soup and jello, took it to her apartment, but dumped it at her door.  I felt so bad that I couldn't go in and tend to her, but the last time I got the stomach bug, it sent me to the hospital for a week.  She's 21, so she really is old enough to understand, but as a Mom it killed me to be "selfish".

I hope you feel better soon and you don't have to resort to desperate measures (prednisone)!

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

thanks ladies!

It does take us Chronies a long time to heal. My DH gets a cold and he is sick for about 3 days, me I am sure to be sick for a month! it is really getting old though

I am on Augmentin as well. It is not helping, one Doc suggested I may have a virus as well and the infection may heal but the virus may take longer. That just sucks!

Have you tried a Neti Pot? That can usually help things along!

I saw those neti pots. I have not tried them yet but I just might. I am willing to do almost anything to get better!

Yes, yes, yes do get the Neti pot. I made a homemade one at home, because in my case nothing would come out, and that helped sooooooo much. Good luck!!

I am doing a search for homemade neti pot right now wink

My neighbor got an attachment from her ENT for her water pick and she used it for sinus problems with salt water. she says it worked great.

I got the Pred on Friday, just a 21 day dose though not too bad. I am feeling better already. I also got a scope of my sinuses with a swab yuck, that was bad!

Yes, we love our Neti pot! Ditto!

Another CHEAP and effective solution: try 1 Tbs. apple cider vinegar (Bragg's is my fav.) diluted in a glass of water at least two times a day (don't take it straight!). Sweeten w/honey if it's still not palatable. It really helps clear mucous from the head and chest! Some stay on it long-term to ward off the return of issues.

I do the apple cider vinegar for minor belly aches too--I think it's quite soothing!

blush  I have a long, long history of sinus infections. After years of antiobiotics my doc said "no use doing any more, they no longer work for you".
I was adrift until someone suggested acupuncture. It is the only thing which has ever successfully cleared up my sinus infections.
Best of luck!
