sad  HI- I haven't psoted for a long time.  I am on entocort for colitis/ chrohsn clolitis.  Oh- I also take rowasa.  Enotcort hasn't been totally taking care of sypmtoms.  I often will get a reall distended belly from gas pain. On one colonoscopy about 2/3 uears ago I had ulcers near my small intestine and rectum area.  Haven't had a scope for quite some time.

Not sure if bouts of uncontrollable belching, hiccups, nausea has anything to do with my other disease condition.  I often feel as though I am about to throw up.  Sometimes I come very close.   do not feel any burning like in heartburn.  Yesterday I had a very sharp pain onm my mid right side that loasted for about an hour and then the belching fit.  It sounds awful and is not fun to experiece.  sad
I know there are so many on here that have great wisdom into this illness.. Any ideas. rolleyes

I get a similar sort of thing. Any day that I get up and I am belching and burping away, I know to just tear up my plans for the day. Apart from repeated bouts of diarrhea I will usually have a temperature and chills, pretty much nonstop nausea, and pains in my guts, usually of the "burning coal" (acute pinpoint) sort. I assume these are ulcers, they are usually concurrent with bright red blood in my stool, although I have had colonoscopies that have failed to spot any inflammation even when I am passing blood on a daily basis. mad When I have these pains they are spectacularly painful when a bubble of gas passes over them, real break sweat and lean on something stuff.
The pains are situated in my LRQ (lower right quadrant), and slightly further up on both the LLQ and LRQ. My LLQ is usually distended in a very characteristic asymmetric shape.
Imagining the sigmoid colon (which is the bit of intestine directly leading to the anus) as being shaped exactly like the "S" on Superman's vest, I assume that I have active ulcers just below the first bend of the S, then above that as it curves back to the other side, and then just below the next bend.
The nausea, I was told by my GI, (who incidentally doesn't think I have Crohn's) is as a result of disruption to peristalsis. Instead of rhythmic ripples of muscle pushing food down the gut towards the anus, the contractions become irregular and may go in the wrong direction; nobody seems to know why. The medication I was prescribed was Buscopan, (hyoscine something or other, based on a plant extract from a bulb) which is an antispasmodic; the more common home remedy is peppermint tea, which I found had about the same (weak) effect.
My theory is that the bacteria which are suddenly causing the active inflammation - I usually found it related to sugary foods and other not-on-the-menu items - are fermenting away, which would potentially cause lots of nasty toxic free radicals and the like, and that is what causes the gas. (Not usually smelly for me, ironically enough, until I eventually went onto probiotics I was literally someone whose **** didn't stink ! yeah In my case a fart may be silent, but the only person it is likely to be deadly to is me, internally !)
Nowadays, I use probiotics and fasting to dampen down these problems, and within a day or two they usually die down. But of late that has been less reliable, probably because I got sloppy about the probiotics and garlic that my nutritional therapist told me to take regularly.
Lovely disease, isn't it. eyes Guaranteed to make you feel like socialising !

For some reason, EXTREMELY often (pretty much on a daily basis, at night), I start vomiting from my intestines, but when this happens, I get a lot of air pockets and I get these weird sounding burps as I gag. Does this happen to anyone else?

well, belching, hiccups and nausea was always a sign of a blockage for me...and usually ended up with vomiting:(  Have your doc run some tests!

shocked Valerie, if you are vomiting that often, that is serious, I hope your docs are doing something PDQ ! You haven't got dark brown/black tarry deposits or "coffee grounds" in the vomitus have you ? If so, ER, ASAP. yeah
eyesOhio, I think you are right enough for Valerie, but for me chance would be a fine thing ! I went to my PCP and told him that my GI had told me I could be "fast tracked" for a scope if things flared up again, could he please set things going. He had some bloodwork tests done - basic SED rate, anaemia, blood sugar stuff, it only ever shows a slightly elevated Erythrocyte count with me - and almost two weeks later, I am still waiting to hear what happens next. I once waited a year for a colonoscopy. Things have speeded up a lot since then, but the NHS really don't do tests here in the UK unless they really have to, they are always worried about their budgets I think. The end result is, any test that might show something, but they think probably wouldn't, just doesn't get done, and the basics take weeks at least. If the NHS management had been in charge of fighting World War One, they would have used nothing but snipers on the Western Front to save on bullets. It takes years to get anywhere...
nono Frankly, the further I stay away from this type of medicine, the healthier I stay. yeah I kid you not.

When I start the belching and burping (it smells and tastes terrible too) then my intestines start churning and I start feeling sick. I know that in about 6 hours I will be staying in the bathroom with liquid stools for at least 12 hours or longer. After I am "cleaned" out it will be anywhere from 3 to 5 days before all this starts again. In 2008 June and July were the only months I didn't have this going on. Has been going on and off for over 10 years. All the doctors so far say they don't know what is causing it. Have had Crohn's since 73. Since I received my 5 iron transfusions and the doctor started me on calcium with vit D over a month ago I haven't had one of these spells. Just started on Humira last week. I can only hope that I never have this problem again but with this disease you just never know.

snohare, tell me about it. I had a colonoscopy here in Belfast and they said that my right side was good. A couple of week later, ended up with a massive bleed and 1ft of colon away. The GI didn't even get as far as the right side. Go figure!

wink Ah, I'm such a mild case I barely get let on here, Ohio ! I've been a lot worse in the past, but compared to all the horror stories you get on this forum, really, I'm usually hardly 1 on a scale of 10. yeah
I've only ever been in hospital once, apart from for an inflammation inspired appendix I've never had surgery; my GIs couldn't find anything major wrong with me, I don't usually lose weight like most people do, I just lose energy at almost a moment's notice. Most of my problems relate to severe chronic fatigue and brain fog, not gut flares.
eyes It's when you are trying to earn money and support kith and kin that having this gets really stressful, or if you actually expect the doctors to cure you. nono Once you can't pay bills, or start waiting for that all important appointment...that's when the cortisol levels go up, and the share price of Charmin with them. Me, I have no hostages to fortune, I get just enough benefits to keep a roof over me, do better with diet and probiotics than most do with meds and surgery, and I really have no faith in doctors, so it's just another day, better make the best with what I've got, read a book, surf the Web, ho hum. smilewinkgrin
If I'd never had Crohn's I wouldn't be the educated man I am today ! idea yeah
