Good luck with getting well.  Surgery is very scary but remember that a positive attitude (I know its hard) can only help you heal faster.

Hello Bex,

I am sorry you are going through this! If you have to have surgery, I'm praying it gives you a long remission! I'm praying too for your children that they will be at peace about your illness. If you do have to be in the hosptal and if you know you have a problem with depression, I strongly suggest you talk often to the hospital's social worker. They are there just for this reason and can stop by and make sure you are doing OK. Connect with him/her the day you check in -- or call them in advance. This may help you feel that you are not alone while you are there. I'm praying for strength for you to do what you have to do, and for a positive attitude with no fear or anxiety!!
Diagnosed with rectal Crohn's in early 2007.  Several peri-rectal abscesses and two fistulae with setons.  Allergic to Remicade and Humira.  Currently on 6MP, and vitamins D and B-12.

Hi I think we all get afraid a bit when it comes to surgery. How long has it been since you had your other surgeries? I know those obstructions are not so good. Have you tried ensure or boost to help with your weight? I was drinking alot of gatorade my last one,and it really did help me get the liquids down. Do you have someone who will be able to help with the children? It does help to know that the kids are looked after I have one and was very worried when I first started getting sick. However things went good and now I don't worry as much. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone and stick around for awhile it helps to be able to talk with others that have been there. lol gail

Hi You were in for quite awhile the last time. You must of had some complications .I went in and was out 10 days later .I was in four days before surgery. Glad you have someone to look after the kids. Have you tried very many meds? Sometimes I wish there was one that was good for all of us. I used to get depressed in the hospital but find it's not so bad if I get out in the hall and talk to people. I did alot of reading that helped pass the time and of course enjoyed some naps... lol gail
