Hi all- Just a little background on myself...I was diagnosed with Crohns about 12 years ago and have been on a roller coaster rider ever since. I know I've had better luck then alot of the Crohnies on this site and look for inspiration in your support and amazing perspectives. No surgeries as of yet but I've had my fair share of scopes, mri, ct scans, sbft, etc. Anyway
I recently changed doctors, looking for better care and better bed side manner. Well, lets just say I'm still looking. I like my doctor but I just feel that he has so many patients that there isn't a personal connection and I don't feel that I'm receiving any added attention. I know that most good doctors appointment books are usually full but I'm always hoping to find one that is willing to spend some time and figure me out as opposed to treating me like a number.
So the point of this post is to find another doctor. I live in Darien which is a suburb southwest of Chicago. If there are others that can recommend any specialists or hospitals in this area I REALLY would appreciate it soo much. I feel like at this point I need the attention this DD requires.

I know that there are others in the same boat. Why is it that we findly get to the appointment day and sit there and wait for the doctor to only find ourselves driving home after seeing the doctor for 30 minutes or less and saying WTH happened? I try to tell them what's going on and it's almost like you have an invisible stop watch running and you inevitably end up forgetting to ask questions and really don't benefit the way you could if you had time and no pressure to really look things over. That bothers me. The amount that they charge is certainly not justified in the amount of time they allot to your disposition.

Thanks for listening.

Dr. Steven Hanauer (sp?) at the University of Chicago is one of the two or three top Crohns specialists in the country, involved with many clinical trials and studies. I am sure the other GIs at U of Chicago are also up to date on Crohns treatment because of his influence.

Thanks for the suggestions, I know that U of C is a great resource. I certainly will consider it but right now I'm looking for a specialist in the suburbs of Chicago. I have to think that there are comprable (sp?) docs in the burbs and I don't have to drive to the southside of chicago.

Thanks again, any other locals out there feeling good about their doctors. If it's personal feel free to PM me.

John.

Rush University's GI medical center was recommended to me, and the doctors there are great. They provide lots of individual attention and are highly regarded in this field. Good luck finding a new doctor!

Im from Geneva and my GI dr is Tarun Mullick he works at Delnor and Central dupage Hospital and he is a great doctor. The only complaint Ive ever heard about him is that he tends to run late and its usualy because if you have a bunch of questions to ask him he will answer them, he never makes me feel rushed.  And when Im sick or think I'm starting a flare he will give me options of what to do rather than just sticking me on prednisone....
currently taking

pentasa, hyocosamine, zofran, acphix, ativan, advair inhaler and started Remicade back in May

Thanks for the replies....I was actually considering Central Dupage Hospital as a possibility. I've also heard that Rush has a great GI program but I'm trying to keep it in the burbs. Thanks again tho. Any other suggestions are welcome.

thank you in this trying time for me.
