Has anyone had any experience with a consultation at the Mayo Clinic? Do you know who might be the best to see? Thanks in advance for your help?

Crohnie Too has been there, but I don't know what doc she sees. I do know she was pretty happy with the care though.

I just joined.I am having issues right now with my crohn's. I saw this message and wanted to respond.Back in July of 2006 I went to the Mayo clinic for a second opinion. It was the best thing I could have ever done. My Dr. wanted me to go on Remicade because I had tried everything else and the next step would have been surgery. I wanted to see what they would say. The DR. at the Mayo clinic confirmed everything my DR. had said.My Dr. had arranged the appointment  for me. I saw a Dr. Sandborn. My Dr. Recommended him and she had also worked with him. He is world renown. I was scared and overwhelmed at first but eveyone is so nice and helpful there. It is very organized and well run there. It would be helpful for you if a Dr. referred you. You will be able to get in much faster. Know that if you do get in that you may end up having to be there up to a week.I went on a sunday night and came home on a thursday. It depends on the tests they want to run.I did have to have a colonscopy while I was there and I had just had one 12 days before that with my own DR. I hope this helps you.

Thanks to everyone who replyed. We have a tentative date to go to the Mayo Clinic in April but I am trying to get an appointment for my son sooner so that he does not have to go back on prednisone while he waits. Thanks again for your help.
