Okay here it is.

The last 3 weeks I have had severe constipation.  I push and push and push and when I do go it comes firing out like a torpedo.  There is some red blood.. could be a hemi I know that.

On top of these premature labor poops i am having .  I get tremendous build up of gas and severe bloating.  Daily I discharge mucus 10-15 times a day .  about every 3 days I get to move things along but in small amounts.. I know there is still some in there.  I always feel full if you know what I mean.

My worry is this.  To those who have had blockages or narrowing of the intestine do any of these or all of these symptoms sound similar?  If not any idea on how I can help this situation.  I am 8 weeks prego and the pushing to this degree just can't be good.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I have cronic strictures but have never been preggo. What always works for me when things start slowing down it to eat lots of fiber. Get it liquified.

I would definitely talk to you doctor about. You wouldn't want get completely obstructed and then hurt the baby.

Try more fluid intake ? On the rare occasions I get constipation (never when pregnant, thankfully tongue) I often find it is related to dehydration, mild but chronic. The other thing I do is take is linseed in porridge...oh, it is soooo soothing when it leaves the building ! smilewinkgrin

Hi Irish Red I didn't have the mucus or blood with blockage but was bloated and nothing much came out.. love your description of the problem got a good chuckle... Since you are an expecting Mom I'd get on the horn to the Dr. and I know how frustrating it can be to want to empty .. Are you in pain ? Do you have rectal issues with your crohn's? If your DR. is not available maybe get in touch with emerg.. to find out what a person can do in this situation..perhaps they can suggest something that will help you.. how far along are you now seems there are so many having babies I cain't remember anymore who's having them..keep in touch .. lol gail

about to pour my self a bowl of bran buds and fruit. Thanks for the advice. In the past fiber has always been the enemy, but in this case I think I need to embrace my new friend. I have a ultra sound today so I will be drinking lot of fluids. I will also keep this in mind for the days ahead.. water ... water... water.

Have a specialist appointment March 11th so I think I can waite until then. In the mean time I will do as suggested from the group, thank you.

The baby's heart rate was "slow" at the last ultrasound - 6 weeks. We hope to see improvement this week in HR. I have miscarried in the past and I think with the Crohn's they like to keep a close watch on the baby which means ultra sounds as early as 5weeks. Each one stresses me out.

thanks again everyone I will keep you posted.

Hi Irish I will tell you that when I was pregnant I was always constipated. In fact, so constipated that if I didn't eat a salad everyday (could eat them in those days) I wouldn't go. Now I have to take stool softners everyday. That might be something you might want to talk to your OB/GYN or GI about. They really help me to pass the stool without straining so much. Just a thought!!

Good luck,
