hi all... I am seeing my GI tomorrow and he is wanting to put my on another med ... Salofalk is not working and I am still having major BM's (5 to 10 per day for 3 days then 1 day of nothing then back to 5 to 10 again)  and pain from the top of my stomach down to my lower left side. Also, there is a constant pain on my right lower side just below my hip bone that goes around to my lower back.

My question is: any thoughts on possible meds he is going to put me on or any thoughts as to what this could be??

thanks

Well, one thing to think about for you, personally, is how aggressive you want to be at this point in your treatment. You're pretty early on in your diagnosis, so you may want to opt for the less scary (usually pill-based) therapies and take it slow... sometimes drugs take a while to show their effectiveness, so your doc might suggest steroids to help you through until the others "kick in". Then again, if your quality of life is really suffering, and your doc thinks that your guts are in bad shape - you may want to start at the top of the drug-food-chain with something a little more aggressive like Remicade.

Once you decide how aggressive YOU want to be, then you can narrow it down with your doc and find a med that you're comfy with... Don't let him call all the shots! :-) If you haven't already, maybe read through the "read this before starting a new med" thread? See which ones are "maybe" or which are "heck no's" at least...

Good luck tomorrow!
