VOMICATION: From UrbanDictionary.com: "a formal version of "pooking". To pook or to vomicate is to vomit and defecate simultaneously. Generally, vomication occurs in the morning after a night of excessive drinking. The most common form of vomication is to vomit in a trashcan while defecating in the toilet. Vomication can also occur when a person has fallen exceptionally ill. Pooking is more commonly used in informal settings such as the home, whereas vomication is used in settings such as a hospital".

I'm going to school my GI in this word.  I have this problem and it has been happening more and more frequently over the past few months (P.S. - I don't drink!).  I remember vomiting while pooping prior to being Dx with Crohn's but it was just occasionally.  When I went into a bad flare last year, I did it maybe around 10 times or so in an 8-month period.  I've done it 8 times in the past 11 days...3 of those times TODAY.

It occurs DURING a BM...one that I have somewhat painful/sick trapped gas.  Then out of nowhere I'm throwing up the last thing I ate.  If it comes in the morning, it's in the form of dry heaves as there's nothing on my stomach.

I've been really frustated/upset/down about it lately because it is happening more often.  I told my GI about it back in December but he just said, "Hmmmm, I don't know what would be causing that" then dropped it.  He also said that about the burning pain in my upper stomach which MAY turn out to be from the gall stones I just found out I have 2 weeks ago.  I did ask him if he thought the pooping & puking at the same time could be a stricture or a blockage or even a partial blockage but he didn't think so because I'm still able to go to the bathroom.  Nothing's "stuck". Plus, there were no signs in my last Colonoscopy to suggest that.  Ummm...ok....so WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP THIS?!

I know vomiting is a sign of gall stones.  But my understanding is that people with gall stones are vomiting from the pain the gall stones are causing.  I'm vomiting from the pain of the gas that my Crohn's BM's are causing.

Am I the only one who deals with VOMICATION/POOKING???? cry   After having thrown up everything I've eaten today, I'm afraid to step foot into work tomorrow...I can't stand the thought of POOKING in my office bathroom.  I take a plastic bag with me every time "just in case" but if I'm GOING to POOK, I'd rather do it at home with my own sturdy trash can.

I can't find anything online about how to FIX this or what could be causing it.  Anyone here dealt with this or know anyone who has?

I DEAL WITH THAT TOO!! I hate it so much. Like, I'll be kneeling in front of the toilet trying to figure out if I need to go sit on it instead, and if I can risk waiting, then I'll end up sitting there with the garbage can on my legs instead. It's so frustrating, I can't imagine dealing with it at work.. What would you do? I tend to keep a plastic bag with me though just in case, just like you! LOL. I find it to be the worst though. I never knew that they actually had a word for it though, interesting! Wish I knew what caused it though, I also feel like there's something "stuck" too, and I also deal with trapped gas. I have upper stomach pain as well. Interesting! Have you ever had your small intestines checked? I haven't, that's why I'm curious. I get the dry heaves too btw. Seems like we're dealing with the exact same thing!

Occasionally vomiting with bowel movements was what took me to a doctor in the first place before I was diagnosed with Crohn's. I had no pain with it. I later looked up vomitting-bowel movement on internet and it said it can be due to a blockage. I have a stricture in sigmoid colon but have not had a problem with vomitting since initially being put on Prednisone. Surgeon said once that he didn't think there was any connection in my case.

Hi I my dog tries to pook and now I call him oohkin pookin.. On another note though my vomitting was mostly from things not working so well in there probably from narrowing ,I did find I had to give up tea and can go perked coffee ...is it mostly in the morning? Pain can cause me to pook , in the days of my blockages I did some pooking too... lol gail

Keep in mind VOMICATION isn't a medical term.  That's why I want to "school" my GI about the word!  smilewinkgrin

I've recently had a Small Bowel Follow Thru and it came back fine.  It's been almost 2 years since my last Colonoscopy and it was as "fine as it could be" at that time. No blockages/strictures or anything like that.  Just the regular ol' ulcers that have been there for years.  I'm due for another Colonoscopy this year or next...maybe something has changed.

But I only vomit when the bowel pain/gas from the BM is so bad.  I'm not constipated by any means, either. I have loose BM's so it's not like I'm straining.  It's as if the gas gets trapped/stuck in my lower intestine and when the pressure finally let's up and allows me to poop, then some reflex in my stomach causes me to puke! skull

It's just been happening more and more often...I'm praying it's partly due to my gall stones.  If so by next month, maybe I won't have to deal with it as much.  But the anxiety of NOT KNOWING when the vomiting is coming is what is so frustrating.  I've gotten used to the Crohn's BM's but I never know when the vomit is coming.  Like last night, I was just laying on the couch feeling quite fine.  Then I realized I had to pee.  So I went to pee and the gas pains started.  Next thing I knew I was throwing up dinner and lunch and well...VOMICATING!  Ugh.

CrazyHarry...HA!  Rock On VOMICATION*holds lighter in the air*

Mine has no set time frame...morning, middle of the day, night, middle of the night...whenever the BM comes on along with painful gas is when the vomiting comes, too.

At this point it's been happening so much, I can't help but wonder if my body is now just "used" to it...kind of like a bulemic. When someonoe with bulemia constantly makes themselves throw up, their body eventually starts to automatically throw up anything they eat because the body has been conditioned to do so.

I know exactly what you mean. Even coughing can make me vomit and poo at the same time.

^ I find I usually end up coughing a lot before I vomit. I'm not sure why. Do you have any reason why this happens? It's always baffled me a bit, I don't just start gagging, 99% of the time my gagging is accompanied by a LOT of coughing.
