Hi,

Do you think you have a blockage because you are constipated?  A true blockage usually causes cramping, some nausea etc.  And you usually can't even pass any gas.

Regarding your constipation, are you drinking plenty of liquids?  If you are and still can't go, you might want to try a gentle stool softener like Colace.

Yogurt is generally good for (everyone's) digestive tract, but I wouldn't think it would help a true blockage.

Where is your pain? When I have blockages I get sharp pains like pin and needles poking me around my belly button. Also I feel very bloated and nausea. I hope it's not a blockage and only a stricture giving you grief. Usually if I stay on a liquid diet, rest when I can and drink lots of water mine will calm down. If not, I have to begin takng steroids. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi I do not do good on the yogurt but lots do ..If you are only on liquids maybe that's not getting things moving too good.. I seemed to pass a little gas while sitting on the throne... stool softener might help keep things soft.. perhaps a short burst of steriods might get things moving..lol gail

Thanks guys,
Ya the doctor confirmed I have a blockage, however I cant get into the gastro until April, im going to my doctor next week hopefully he can get me in sooner. This liquid diet is driving me crazy, it was odd becuse at first had really bad diareah, and now I cant go. :( I figured I would try yogert and if that didnt work try prunes, however I just may try a softner im just afraide to bring the diahrea back! My pain is in the dead center of my stomach.
Have a wonderful friday and thaks again!

I suffer with more constipation than I do diarrhea.  I use stool softners daily to keep things a little softer and help them pass.  It doesn't cause D in me, just helps me to pass the stool.

Good luck,

Hi
Have you tried liquid paraffin to clear your blockage. I was given this and the my drainage system cleared. I had total blockage and nothing was working for days till I was given one tea spoon of liquid paraffin orally. You may also try papaya. It really soothes your intestines and clears the blockages, provided it is ripe and not hard. You may try Psyllium husk too to sooth you poo.

If you are on a liquid diet you are not going to have much if any stool to pass.

smilewinkgrin  Hey sweetlady do you know for sure if it is a blockage if so how long has it been since your bowels have moved, are you throwing up yet or passing gas at all i had 3 blockages and landed in the hospital they stop all food by mouth and liquids and first try you with Maylax (check spelling) you get it at the drug store if that dont move your bowels go to the ER in case its to large to move they will also give you IV fluids and that sometimes helps dont eat any solids nono be carefull i would advise you to go to the ER is it has been more than 3 days. Are you taking alot of pain meds sometimes they can be really binding and block you up maybe you are only constipated. Your bowel buddy Jenn. turn I hope that helps you a little. God bless you.

Thank you so much for your reply's I really apriciate it!  I have been going to the bathroom but its eaither diareah, or so hard I bleed, although yesterday it hurt but it was all tiny pieces and I had to go twenty minutes after.  The er confermed it was a blockage, and I get to go to the gastro next thursday I cant wait, I have had this burning in my stomach and in my lower left side for to long.  I am eating normal food now but being very careful,  I am takeing  previcid  my husband thinks that will stop the burning  it has a little but no enough.  I also have been useing a stool softner once in a while so my poop isnt so hard.
Thank you so much for answering me have a good day.
God Bless,
Sarah
