I am curious to know if anyone that has a slow moving digestive system has problems with Miralax or other clean out medications?
I go back  and forth between constipation and D.  When the const. hits I just don't have BMs.  I take Colace, smalll doses of Miralax, MOM, dulcolax, Fleets, etc... Last night  I finally took 12 doses of Miralax ( which is what my GI prescribes for colonoscopy prep) .  Nothing happened, no clean out, nothing.  I saw my doc. today and he said it would eventually come out.  Well 24 hours after taking the many doses of Miralax I am finally getting the clean out!!!!
Does anyone out there have problems with a very slow moving gut?

The strange thing is that next week I may have the big D and go 5-8 times a day for a week or so?
I don't understand my body confused
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

By the way, I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2000.   This constipation thing is new to me as of last June when I was in Hosp. for a week with a flare.  It has been off and on since then.

Hi Anne crohn's can keep the brain busy trying to figure out it's plan for the body I agree with that but perhaps you have some narrowing or inflamation going on.. sure took alot to get things moving I think crazy Harry has a slow moving system or did, and he did the maker's diet I think .. hope you get on a more regular routine.. sometimes the bowels have a section of scarring that might make things hard to get moving... lol gail

Gachrons---Thanks so much for the reply.  Yes, I have thought about narrowing and my pcp has too.  I had resection surgery back in 2005 for a stricture in the TI, so it may be rearing its ugly head again!!  I am on Humira every 2 weeks, we may need to up that a little bit.  The last pill camera study I had done last summer could not get any pictures in the TI area near the anastomosis because fluid (golightly) was still in the area and the camera just spun around!!!!  So something is amiss in there I think.

Have you ever had a gastric emptying exam done? My first G.I. asked me to get one done when I was still getting diagnosed and he thought I may have idiopathic gastroparesis.

Hi Valerie 3, no I have not had that exam done.  I see my GI doc again in April, so I will ask about that.  Thanks so much for the info, I appreciate anything new that may help!!
