Hey everyone!

Long time no "see" again. Apparently I like to fall off the face of the Earth on a regular basis. I hope everyone is doing well. There are a lot of new people here I don't know, so hello from a somewhat old-timer.

Things are going well. For those who know me, I'm almost done with my doctorate in psychology. Seems like yesterday I started this process. I graduate in June shocked I plan on continuing to work in the GI world and have started my next phase of my research recently. Some of you probably participated in my survey research for my dissertation that I posted last year looking at social attitudes about IBD. Well, here's where I need your help once again.

Mods: I have Peter's permission to post this study.

I'm looking for people who have had Crohn's or UC for at least 6 months and who are 18 years of age or older to complete a set of questionnaires. Information contained on these include things about your illness, basic info about you (age, gender, size of town you live in, etc.), and your experiences with social attitudes about IBD and people who have it. Your responses are completely anonymous and will be pooled with other participants for the final data analysis. My goal for this study is to help better understand the relationship between social attitudes about IBD and patient outcomes like quality of life, and to use this information to inform doctors, nurses, and other health care providers about this aspect of IBD patient experiences.

If you would like to participate, please visit this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=WRnLy1lVp8UM0Js0nwNwNQ_3d_3d

This study is approved by the Institutional Review Board to protect research participants at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

If you have any questions about this, please let me know. You can email me at healthpsych@gmail.com.

Thank you very much for your help with this project!

Hey, nice to see you Betagirl ! Always - well, usually ! - a good sign if people drop off the forum, if they have a good reason to be busy. Your excuse is superb...definitely passes muster. yeah smilewinkgrin
My current official diagnosis is "IBD/ query Crohn's", although there is little doubt in my mind since I have had the rare cobblestone roof in my mouth. Am I eligible to take part ? I don't want to risk mucking up your statistics with iffy categories... tongue

Do we have to give our email?

Are you getting your doctorate in health psychology? I'm thinking about doing that myself (depending on how well my UC behaves!).

Thanks everyone :)

Good to see you Ides. Hope things are well for you.

Bookworm21 - no, you do not have to provide your email address if you don't want to. I am getting my degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in health. I've spent the past 5 years doing research with GI patients, but of course my heart is with people with IBD :)
If you have any questions about it, feel free to email me. It'd be great if you could do it too.

Navy - The VA is good. I'll be done there at the end of June. I've learned so much in such a short period of time. I'll miss the vets quite a bit.

Took the survey. It never asked for my email though. I mentioned that I am facing anxiety/stress due to my fear of flying an an upcoming flight so that may be effecting my answers.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

I just wanted to let you know that I tried to complete the survey, but about 3/4 of the way through, I kept getting returned to the same screen, even though I answered all the questions. My computer seems to working fine, so please check the survey site. This is important research. Thanks for doing it.

Hi gumby

I checked the survey and it seems to be working. It may be that you didn't check off all the questions and it is prompting you to answer all the items. The warning for that isn't all that obvious. If you go back in, it should pick up where you left off. Be sure to check if all questions are answered. If it persists, please let me know.

Thanks!
