hi there.  I have been on 6-MP for approx a month and a half.
I have an infection on my pinky finger- probably started under my nail- one of those stupid irritating infections that are no big deal...
it hasn't gotten better for 2 days and really hurts.
I called my doc and just picked up an antibiotic...i felt stupid calling for a pinky finger infection but with the 6-MP...

Has anyone on 6-MP gotten any infections etc. that they had to deal with?

Smart move, calling the doctor. Minor infections can become major.

I don't remember having any problems with 6-MP or Imuran. I was even going to college when I was on 6-MP, so I had to be exposed to a lot of stuff. At most, I maybe had a cold.

Prednisone was a different story. I got a terrible case of Valley Fever/Pneumonia while taking it, and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. They were going to send me to some rehab place, so my mom came down to Arizona from Nebraska and rescued me. I've never really been the same since then.

It doesn't matter how small the infection - you did the right thing by getting it treated! I have a friend who developed an eye infection that lasted for months. Everyone reacts differently to 6MP

Look at this article about a girl here in Arizona whose fingertip wound turned into MRSA shocked! Good to be vigilant about even tiny wounds.

And scroll down to look at this lady's chin. Just a small scratch, but also got infected with MRSA:

EDIT: Take some probiotics a couple hours after the antibiotics so that your gut chemistry doesn't get all screwed up.

seriously- MRSA is not good. i actually came up with a product to help combat it's spread and protect people in gym, school etc. environments.
coming up with the idea was the easy part...finding $$$$ to develop and market it is not so much fun!
