yes it can happen with crohn's. What meds are you on? Did that make a difference?  Did you get checked out for all the possible infections? like c-diff?

What about doing a pill camera? or a barium swallow/small bowel follow thru

I guess I do not know what you want...my first suggestion is to get the pictures and the lab results from your first one and then get a new doc (because a second opinion is just good common sense when facing a disease)

A promethous blood test is something else

It could be crohns....

A colonoscopy can only go up so far, so if your colonoscopy is showing clean then maybe you need your small bowel checked again as crohn's could be lurking there and causing you grief.

Honey I have severe crohns my CDAI (crohns disease activity index) is well over 500.
I did answer your question that yes you can be in a flare and not have it show up on your colonscopy. Because the colon might be were your meds are working, but you can have issues elsewhere in your intestines. That is why I suggested the pill camera and the blood test.

It is unusual, but it is not unheard of.

I do not think pb4 takes any (but I could be wrong), but I take some percription meds when I need them. See if tylenol works for tonight?

Hi It can be hard at first to get things going good with the meds and stuff... hang in there things should improve once the meds kick in .. how are you doing on the prednisone? Sometimes going low residue can help too ...hoping that the meds you are taking will give you some relief soon ...lol gail

If you have been on meds to control your Crohns then its not unusual to have a clean scope a few months later. The meds have done their job, and calmed the inflammation down. I agree with the above that maybe you should request a pill cam. That tests shows areas where the scope can't reach. Good luck!

try not to panic (I know it is hard) but the tests and meds and the first few months are really hard. many of us find this settle down after a bit. I showed inflammation thru one round of tests and it never showed up again. I had tons of pain and weight loss for 2 years and was taking vicidin for pain. I will never know if I do or don't have crohns, but I stopped eating gluten and the pain is gone. I don't think it is an answer, but what I mean is, sometimes you just need time, the right meds, and maybe a shift in diet.
so sorry you are going thru this--keep asking questions. yp
49 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.

nono  Hey little girl pain meds are not the answer i guess you dont know for sure if you even have crohns disease you need to get rid of the inflamation first and the pentsa or ascol will help there still looking for answers i guess i hope you find them after you have had this disease for many years such as most of the people on this site pain meds is not really a normal topic however we do list are meds as you can also,i was 13 when i found out i had crohns i am now 35 and been through many surgeries and alot of pain they will soon get everything under control i promise i would say a small bowel follow through again like other people suggested,it took a long time before i knew what i had and had nothing for pain i am not saying your not having any but try some relaxation methods get lots of rest and dont get stressed out its one of the worst things for crohns you know.I HOPE THAT IS WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR. Jenn

Until you find out what is going on, I mean until you get a diagnosis, tylenol is about all you should try, or maybe aspirin, maybe.

Avoid aleve, anything with ibuprofen. These meds will work very well for a short time(30 mins. to an hour), but end up causing you more grief, and pain, as they are BAD for anyone with CD.

I hope you get some relief soon, it really feels like doctors are ignoring you, but they just have many patients, and a busy life.

You can call them alot, speak to your doctor's nurse, to get them more focused on you.

As suggested you can also get a second opinion, just be sure to let them know you have another doctor treating you.

I hope you get some answers soon.

Just to add a little bit to what has already been said. I have had clear colonoscopy's when my small intestines were a mess. Just can't see that far with a scope. What I always do when I have a flare up is go to straight liquids for a few days. That usually calms my pain with in 24 hours and gives the insides a chance to relax a little. Lots of carnation instant breakfasts, tea, chicken and soup broth's etc. Then move on to soft foods like eggs and soup, and fish. Hope that helps, just remember that it will get better. Flare ups suck, but the future is bright!!
