Hi: I was told by someone else on the forum that you were or did in the past this study! I would love to hear what you thought about it, did it help, etc? If you are willing to please share some information with me. Gosh, I sure hope it helped and that would be fabulous if it did!

Thanks soooo much in advance.

Lovepink!!
I have had Crohn's since I was 21 years old and I am now 28!!
Unfortunately, nothing has worked for me. But I will keep on going and trying everything possible!

Sorry for the late response, havent been on here in awhile,. Yes, I was in the Phase III Prochymal studies. I was really helped out by the initial 4 treatments over 2 weeks. Both my doctor and I came to the conclusion that I had received some form of the stem cells because of the weight gain, blood test numbers, and just overall improvement of health. I thought I was on the road to recovery until about a month and a half later. At this time the symptoms started to get worse and I was put into the second arm of the trial ( 610). After receiving another 4 treatments in the second arm I continued to get worse and my weight went down. Blood tests also starting going south .
In a nutshell, I think that if I would have been allowed to keep getting the treatments that I would be sitting here right now as a so called normal person again healthwise anyways. I was pretty much crushed when I heard that they were stopping the trial now due to a design flaw with the placebo. Hopefully they redesign the trial soon so I can have another chance . I am disappointed though that the approval of the drug may be delayed now for another year or two. I just dont understand why drug companies and the FDA cant just give these cells to us people that would greatly benefit from it. I would sign a waiver or whatever just to have kept getting it. I dont know if I cant wait around another two years and it is shameful of them to leave people suffering from this disease when they could give back people their lives. Definately try and get on this stem cell therapy when you can, its cutting edge!!

Hang in there for the stem cell stuff. I have heard some amazing stories about it helping people in other areas, so why not crohn's too. I was going to go into the study here in Canada but at the screening I had cancer cells and they wouldn't let me in. I'm with you northern guy, I 'd sign any release they wanted, to give it a shot. The immune suppressants already did their number on me. What have I got to lose?

Trigirl - Which study is it? I'm a canadian too and I didn't know that there were any studies being done with stem cells! I'd love to take a look at it.

Prochymal. Does it really work? I hear it costs $10,000 a dose if and when it get's approved by the FDA. Would you spend that type of money to get four treatments knowing that it may not cure you?
