ok so this has been going on for 3 months now...
I've never had this symptom in my 20 yrs with Crohns...
anybody dealing with or has dealt with this and has any ideas PLEASE help!
I can't take it any more!!

Whenever i have to go to the bathroom i have EXCRUCIATING pain in the area below my belly button in the center.
It hurts so badly that it makes me throw up...this is happening regularly now.
After my bm the pain is gone...

These are my main symptoms presently...some blood and urgency but the pain is what i really need to deal with...it's unbearable!!
I'm a 35 year old guy but this pain is bringing me to tears...

any thoughts, ideas, possible remedies would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pain has always been my worst symptom, though it is prolonged and lasts even after BMs. Things I usually try for my pain: a heating pad (this one is usually the biggest help), take a warm bath, try to listen to music or watch something that will distract me a little bit, take the maximum dose of tylenol arthritis strength (even though it doesn't really touch the pain usually, unless I have a prescription for something stronger, then I take that). I find that sometimes if I focus really hard breathing deeply on trying to relax all the muscles in my body and my abdomen, it helps with the pain. If these things aren't working at all and the pain is still unbearable, I call my GI and she usually tells me that if it's that bad, I need to go to the ER because that much pain could be a sign of something really serious.

Have you talked to your GI about this or had any tests (maybe a CT?) done since this problem started? It could be a partial obstruction or something, especially considering you're throwing up (though I've gone through periods where the pain was so bad I'd vomit and I've never had an obstruction so...)

thanks!  yes i went to the er about a month an da half ago...did a ct scan with contrast- didn't show anything.
i was thinking (still do) that i have a partial obstruction but doc seems to discount it for some reason.
have another appt. wed. so we'll see if he has any other ideas.
they did give me a script for bentyl...doesn't seem to do much other than knock me on my butt- great sleep aid...haha
the heating pad and bath certainly work, but my big problem is that for the most part the pain is while i am trying to go the bathroom-
once i'm done it's pretty much over, although sometimes it does seem like i've gone a few rounds with mike tyson...

idea Could it be a damaged part of the gut that is threatening to turn into a fistula, and the pain you experience is due to pressure on a weak or inflamed part of the gut wall ? Kind of like a gut aneurysm ?
eyes I've got to say, it does sound like something that you ignore at your peril, if your doc does then I'd think of getting a second opinion.
I don't envy you the Mike Tyson feeling !

yikes. that doesn't sound good. this is the 2nd doc i've been to...not bc i didn't like the 1st- he was awesome...ins changed...he referred me to this doc who seems to be VERY GOOD as well. Luckily for me here in AZ we have a bunch of good GI docs. Would a fistula show on a ct scan? the scan at the er didn't show anything other than inflammation of the colon...

I don't know much about fistulas, but you might want to ask your doc about a barium swallow/ small bowel follow through (if you haven't had one). They are not fun, but can show things that CTs can't, especially if the problem is narrowing in the small intestine.
