Hi,

My boyfriend has Crohn's and we live in Toronto, Ontario. He is currently receiving Remicade every 7 weeks and it has worked wonders for him. He's on the Ontario Disability Program to cover the costs of his treatment but would like to come off of it and start his own business. My health insurance won't consider him until we've been living common law for one full year, which isn't for another 6 months, and I'm sure we'll run into some issues with him getting insured when the time comes. We've been advised for him to apply for the Trillium Drug Program, but he's wary that his application won't get processed in time for his next treatment. We're also unsure of how to calculate our income since he will be moving from receiving assistance to being self employed, and therefore we don't know what the deductible will be and if we can afford it.

Has anyone gone through the process of coming off disability and onto another health coverage program? If so, can you give me any advice?

I saw a post on here mentioning the Remifast program - can anyone provide more details for this? I can't seem to find any on the Internet. I'm guessing this is something they don't advertise.

Thanks in advance,
K.

What happened with your application?

I am curious if TDP (trillium drug plan) reimburses for treatments given while people wait for approval/acceptance.

You've attached to a very old post. I wouldn't really expect a response from the OP at this point.

I'm not sure that Trillium will reimburse, but your Remicade/Humira co-ordinator should be able to assist you as a liason with Trillium.
My daughter was diagnosed Feb. 19/07, (13 yrs. old at time of diagnosis), with Crohn's of the Terminal Illium. Has used Prednisone and Pentasa. Started Imuran (02/09), had an abdominal abscess (12/08). 2cm of Stricture.
Started Remicade in Feb. 2014, along with 100mgs. of Imuran.

3 percent of your gross income becomes your deductible but Trillium splits the year not as a calendar year. I think it splits August 01 instead of January 01.

Trillium has quarterly limits a person must reach before their plan kicks in. I was frustrated with them because they returned about $300 of my receipts. Grrr.
