my surgery on March 6th started great and i only needed strictures and the next day even had bowel movements. then it took a turn for worse my body was coming cose to being septic and i spiked a fever of 103. needles to say on march 9 I had to have emergency surgery where they took a foot of my intestine and colon. It was the worst pain i have ever felt. Then my heart rate spiked to an average of 150. So I got sent to ICU for two days then i got moved back to general surgery floor. At this time I have had an illostomy bag attatched to my stoma. I kept having fevers so they ran every test imaginable but could find anything. Finally a ID doctor found it is some bacteria that can grow in the gut, probably from the surgerys this was around march 11-12th. So the pump me full of antibiotics. nothing seems to bring the fevers down so they again run me through CT scan (horrible pain from laying staight with my nice 8 inch incision) i still cant lay flat without some pain. Then a few chest x-rays,, they drained my lungs you know all the good stuff. They then put me on a wound vac.. so on march 20 they allowed me to come home. the wound vac stop working so i am done with that! But they did send me home with a portable iv the my wife has to change everyday. i have home nurses come 1-3 a week to help change dressing and draw blood and make sure my stoma is ok. AT least i am home with my family.
But this was worst experience of my life.

Hi, well you have certainly been through it can relate to a couple of things like 2days after resection i had to have a stomach x-ray and had TRY and lay flat with a great big scar up my belly it pulled like hell Is your stoma temporary? I had a stoma when i came round but wasn't expecting it so ws a bit shocked to say the least it then retracted back into the skin getting it reversed hopefully 21/04 thats if my appointment doesn't get cancelled our hospital are good at that!!! anyway just like to wish you well as they say onwards and upwards take care x

Sorry you had such a rough time. Hopefully after all this you will be able to enjoy a long long remission.
