Sorry, I havn't been much fun for you guys lately Gail, in fact I have not been on here in a few weeks. A friend of mine flooded twice with the hurricans and had his house raised 8 feet off the ground. For the last two weeks we have been rebuilding the entries. The back was actually 12 ft. off the ground due to a slope and we built a deck half way down and two sets of steps . He and his wife are not that young either so I kept the steps shallow .The front steps is not built yet but he has used all his vacation so that will come later . All in all its been a very busy time and my old body has been telling me it is time for a break. We will be working again on weekends for a while. I plan to build a lift so they dont have to carry groceries up all those steps. They sure were glad to get back in their house though. They have been living with his daughter for few months now. It has not been all work though, we have had some laughs. He bought a new skill saw and I was telling him the cord was too long. When he made the first cut with it , he lowered it down after and the cord went into the blade and cut it off about a foot long. All we saw was a small puff of smoke. I looked at him and said. I know it was too long but you didn't need to cut it shorter right NOW. I razzed him a good bit about that. And,,No we are not careless, we were just both very tired. Thanks for thinking about me. I'm ok. Just very sore . I'm tired, but its a good tired.

Sniper, you're a good man. If you ever decide to move to Dallas, I would love to have you as a neighbor. (c:

Thanks Texan. If the weather here keeps kicking our tails we just may take you up on the invite. Wife and I did think of moving but all places have some problem or another. We are just doing what we can with what we have.
Gail, glad you have good enough weather to walk outside without the snow shovel. Spring has sprung I suppose . We had a nice Easter but the weather turned ugly for the drive home. Lots of rain and some folks got hail. We just took our time and drove at a reasonable speed. Made it home safe and thats all that counts. My old gut decided to give ne a little trouble but it was not bad so all is good. I think sitting on the throne is a plus right now,,I get to rest....

Hi Guys

Haven't been around much myself, but wanted to chime in. Good to see you guys. I'd love to have Sniper as a neighbor, but could only offer drought, late freezes, fire, then 2" rain and tornados. I don't think Texas has had it much better. We do have great neighbors for the most part here. Plunty of help and giving going on here now. I love you guys and miss your encouragment, just haven't had much time myself. Take care

nono Sniper, that accident was your fault, for encouraging him to take shortcuts. Surely you saw it coming, there was a lead in. yeah I hope you took steps to remedy the shortage...or remedied the shortage to take steps...you know what I mean ! eyes Still, sounds like you have the problem nailed, unless there have been some other screwups you haven't mentioned. tongue

Well Sno, you know you have to cut the cord sooner or later. Lucky, no one was shocked by our shorts. I hate getting juiced. We were still plugged into the problem when the smoke cleared so we took a breaker and tied up loose ends. I would not stringer you along , we did take the right steps. But then you know I'm a cut up.
Margie, Ive never been offered a drought, a freeze or a twister. I usually just work for a cup of coffee and a meal or two. Now, about that encouragement, Ive been building lots of supports,, ,,,,so if you need some, count on me.

now you just be an early Riser and Tread up those stairs! they have cordless saws now but you have to take a Battery of tests to use one. as for the lift, maybe you could hire a Dumb Waiter, to haul all the groceries? or Ramp up the project to include a wagon up a slope. but you would have to have plenty of Pull for that.

nono Don't strut now, Sniper ! Your posts are becoming positively untrammelled, I am not sure there is any foundation to them. They're a hole lot more than we'd ask, I know it seems to auger well but I'm not so sure that this is the right platform upon which to base our expectations. It's all very well being on the cutting edge of the industry, but all it needs is one bargain basement business to collapse and we will be truly crushed... smhair yeah Still, as Randy indicated, this is an uplifting project for us all. smilewinkgrin

I guess I am on the down slope at times. I will try to tread lightly. Watch my step as it were. Still I feel its an up hill climb . I seem to be on a slippery step. Its hard to be all decked out all the time. Being on post is like being on a treadmill. I dont mean to rail , I just wish to be elevating when possible. Randy, hit the nail on the head. That should get a rise out of VV too. Will he step up though ? Sno, dont use the word collapse , it could prove our downfall. I'll be back, for now, I'm stepping out..
