Since Monday, I have just started having intense red vaginal bleeding during bowel movements. It is definitely vaginal bleeding, and it stops after the BM.

The only thing different is that my BM's are actually formed now, and perhaps a bit too hard. I still have pain and discomfort during them, but nothing unusual when the bleeding happens (I call what I am experiencing "formed stool diarrhea" b/c I still have pain and urgency). Today I have had some lower back pain, which is new, but the bleeding has been happening all week.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I call my OB or GI? Thanks so much.

(I forgot what my siggy says, but I am currently on 100mg Imuran, 9 mg Entocort, and prescription prilosec (I don't know how many mg).

Id call both doctors.  Ive never had bleeding, but I had a very weird discharge while I was on prednisone..I told my GI about it so he could take note of it, but he told me it was something Id have to see my OB about.  Regardless though, I like all my doctors to be on the same page about whats going on with me.

That would really freak me out! If you find out what causes it, let me know, I'm curious. I would definitely talk to your doctor though...

Call your docs, in my 18 yrs with crohn's that has never happend to me, please do not wait to call and get it checked out, I don't even know what to guess what would be causing that to happen but be sure to share when you find out so that others can be aware.

How heavy is "intense" by the way? It could be because your BMs are hard, the pressure could be causing leftover blood from your uterus down or something. However, it could be fibroids as well. They cause the back pain and can cause bleeding during BMs..seems like the most likely cause. I'd go see your gynecologist.

By "intense" I mean like a few tablespoons few (to guess). The blood is fresh red, which makes me a bit nervous, but if it is just pushing out old blood, that'd be great. I left a message for my Gyn tonight. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks!

This could be a vaginal fistula - call the doctor.

I saw my gyn today. She ran a few tests and did an ultrasound and she said my uterus is "irritated" and it is essentially bleeding when touched. She did not see a fistula, fibroids or tumors (thankfully)! She did not seem concerned and said that if it continues through my next cycle, that we will run more tests. My GI agreed that it probably is not a fistula or GI related. Whew! So, hopefully it is a one time thing! My gyn said it is rare, but it does happen to women on occasion. I don't have an answer as to why my uterus is irritated, but my gyn seems to think the problem will resolve itself.

That is good news!! Hopefully your uterus will heal on its own and all will be well.

That is so bizarre! I hope it doesn't continue so you don't have to go through any more tests. Good news!
