I'm so bloated cramping like I'm constipated. Does anyone here have bloating with CD or UC? My symptoms are bloated feeling after about 2-3 hours later after I eat. If I burp it seems to help I have not had any diarrhea either. My blood work came back normal WBC was normal. This started out burning in my chest then moved to my stomach its been 10 days not much change no more pain just bloating now. Chest pain still there in the morning not as bad. I had a CT scan last week they said mild UC. Strange thing is I’m not getting the usual symptoms of UC or CD going to the bathroom only once a day not much comes out but i'm not eating much. Lost 10 lbs in 10 days. I'm going for a colonoscopy and EGD Tuesday I’m really nervous they are going to find stomach cancer or something really bad. The symptoms for stomach cancer are bloating and pain. My father had Crohn's so it could be that. I would think the CT scan would have seen a tumor. The pain is all over feels like being constipated that seems to be opposite  of symptoms of UC or CD?

I can understand your concerns especially with your dad having CD...constipation can also be an issue for either CD or UC...bloating and gas are often common symptoms too...glad your going for a colonoscopy especially with having a family history of IBD, hopefully they'll be able to determine what's going on from your colonoscopy, try not to stress over that test, the worst is doing the prep but it's certainly worth it if it can give you answers to your issues. Your fears are normal but save your energy to deal with what actually is going on and lets hope it will be revealed on Tuesday for you.

Hi Kell,

I don’t really go on this site as I have UC but today is my day off and I am trying to research about different medicines. Any way I saw your message, I did have bloating with my UC, especially when I had a flare about 3 weeks ago. I also had other symptoms of UC, like diarrhoea, and mucus.  So you need to get checked especially if your dad had chrones, its good your going to go for a colonscopy .

Anyway I decided to experiment with a few food ideas., One of the things I have been experimenting with is food combining. I felt as soon as I stopped eating fish and potatoes and things like this together my stomach got better. I bought a book written by Sherry Brescia. She had IBS, which is not as serious as what I have, but her book helped. I will now always eat like she recommends and food combining does really work for bloating and gas. I am so glad I came across it and it does work with UC, if that is what is wrong.

Good luck I hope you don’t have either of these illnesses

Are you eating any dairy products? If you are lactose intolerant you can have symptoms much like that. Try cutting out all dairy products and see if that helps. Another thing is if they do find you have IBD, it could be you have some narrowing going on inside somewhere. Let us know what they say after your tests.

Good luck,

Hey nanners, I've been lactose intolerant and always suffered with bad D from it, I never knew it could cause constipation problems too, man you learn something new everyday (I googled about it and found that it can cause C as well and was shocked), what a whacky thing that is, it's bad enough that with IBD or IBS you can have either C or D, and now finding out that it can happen with lactose intolerance too is just bizzare. I'm glad you shared that info, cuz I never knew it and I'm sure many others never either.

I'm not lactose intolerant I have had a colonoscopy and EGD before at different times 6 years ago I had diarrhea for 6 months that was the first time I went in and saw the GI doc. He did a colonoscopy and found my Ilium was inflamed he took biopsy’s and said it looked like CD but the biopsy’s came back negative. This was around the time I was going through a divorce so my stress level was high. The diarrhea went away and then about 3 years ago I had ear infections from GERD so I went in to see him again he did an EGD and gave me protonix. I had a few small ulcers but biopsy’s were okay. When I had the EGD before I gagged too much so I had to be put under with anasesiologist this time they are going to do that again and I will be completely out for both procedures. I did the golite last time it was awful It made me throw up and I could only get 1/2 down. This time I told him to give me something else so I will try the 4 dulax pills and merlax mixed with Gatorade. If I try to eat anything with meat like chicken I get a lot of pain and bloating after about 2 hours. If I stick to soft foods like cream of wheat or mash potatoes seems okay. Today I felt fine I'm hoping things will get better although I have this strange clicking noise when I swallow in my throat. I'm not worred about the proceedures its the results I'm worried about. Never ever had symptoms like this before its depressing watching my friends and family eat food I love to eat but I can only watch.
