I have the small bowel follow through next Thurs.  The instruction sheet says I can eat a light meal the evening before.  LOL, that's a laugh they tell you to have a light meal right after drinking the senokot.    Anyways their allowable foods are rice, pasta, well cooked vegetables, meat/fish, eggs.
Does that mean no bread or sugar in the tea and what no jello?  They don't really specify other than saying low residue. Which vegetable is low residue?

Can anyone add to the list of allowable foods?  I didn't know that meat was low residue?

Hmmmm...I'm not sure about food restrictions for that test.  I've had 2 SBFT's and never had to do a "day/night-before" prep.  I just couldn't eat or drink anything after midnight, the thinking being that any food I ate for dinner (whatever it might have been) would (and should) be out of my small intestine by the time of the apointment...

Thanks,  and really, you never had to do a prep before?.   I've had plenty of these cleaner outers in the past, usually having to drink a fleet (phospho-soda solution) This time they want me to use the senekot, yum yum and ugh! The worst isn't the craps but trying to get this horrible stuff down and keeping it down.

I had to drink the barium during the SBFT test, walk around, and then they would take pictures every 30 minutes. But no, I've never had a "clean-out" process before THAT particular test.

The only intestinal "clean-out-your-intestines" prep I've had to do is the night before a Colonoscopy (I use pills instead of the liquid stuff) and the morning of an Abdominal CT Scan (which was a barium drink - NASTY).

I'd rather be crapping for 24 hours than to drink any of that prep liquid stuff...GAG!

Yah, I know what that is like, drinking that barium on an empty gut and trying to keep it down while waiting for them to call you from your little cubicule
