My son Ben is almost 15 and has Crohn's disease.  He is due for his next Remicade treatment on May 11th, but lately has not been feeling well and has had diarrhea about 6 times a day.  I am going to call his GI to see if I can move up his Remicade appointment, but in the meantime he is going white water rafting with the Boy Scouts this weekend.  He leaves tomorrow.  I'm thinking that maybe I can give him Imodium just to help him get through the weekend, but I am not sure how much to give him.  What is the dosage that you take?
Thanks for any advice,
Nancy (son Ben, Remicade, Lialda)

Hi Nancy,

I normally only take 1 tablet at time as two tends to slow me down too much. But I also have the stricturing type of Crohns so that may make me a little different. Maybe he can try one to start and see how he does and if he needs another one he can take it. Good luck!

I take the Wal-Mart Equate liquid brand of Anti-D/Immodium.  When my bowels are in spastic mode (where there is constant pressure and I'm going every 1-2 hours) I'll take a teaspoon or two of this and that usually clogs me up for the next 12 hours.  If I go again within a couple of hours I'll take another tsp or two.

My heart aches for your son having this illness at 14-years old.  Bless his heart.  I hope the Imodium alone will get him through his Boy Scout trip and that he has a GREAT time. :-)
