I posted a couple of days ago that after I worked out for a couple of days I had alot of pain near my ostomy. I thought it was just a pulled muscle but had a CT scan yesterday and was told it was a hernia and a pocket of fluid. No fever or nausea but it hurts sooo much. Anyway I have an appt Wednesday to have it drained with a needle. I'm sure some of you have had this done and I was wondering about the procedure. Does it hurt? Will I feel relief right away? How long does it take? I was told it is probably a sterile abscess because I dont feel sick, just sore. Thanks for your responses. Tony

I had a HUGE abscess it was soooo painful, it was from my resection surgery.  I instantly felt better when it was drained. I cant even explain it. Mine however decided to "drain" aka explode itself while I was waiting in the ER to get it drained.  Sorry that I cant help you with the specifics of the procedure but I wouldnt expect it to take too long, as for if it hurts; I cant answer that either mine opened through my scar from surgery so it was numb.  But I would assume they would numb the area?  If not, I would tell them to do so.
