Hi All,

I have been on 6mp for over 2 years.  I do think it helps to keep me in remission, although since going gluten-free and taking VSL#3, I haven't had diarrhea in ages.

Anyway, since I have been on 6mp I am constantly sick.  I guess there is no way to prop up your immune system considering 6mp suppresses the immune system?  I am so frustrated.  Now all of a sudden, I have terrible skin problems during the winter.  My sinus problems are now chronic.  I could probably be on an antibiotic at least once a month.  That is why I am now using homeopathy for my current UTI.  I am keeping the faith that it works.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tara

You don't specify your dosage. I do fine on the minimum daily dose of 50 mg. In fact, after an excellent scope a little over a year ago, my GI scaled me back to 50mg every other day. You might talk to yours abuot a dosage reduction, and if it kept you in remission, see if that helps reduce your tendency to get those pesky bugs.

Hi MikeB,

That's a good question!  I forgot to add.  I am on 100mg.  I will call my doctor and ask him that.

Thanks,

Tara

What time of day are you taking it? I was taking it in the morning and it made me horribly nauseous, so I started taking it at bedtime and those problems stopped. Also, did you recently increase the dosage? If so, maybe you need to go back down some. Good luck!

I was on 6mp for a bit, but I could NOT handle the side effects... My doctor switched me to Imuran, and the healing effects were the same but the side effects were nil!
