Has anyone experienced floaters from humira or changes in vision?...1 week prior to humira I noticed increased floaters and had them checked out by my optomotrist...he said everything was fine and since I have had them before I didn't freak...I went back two weeks later, at this time I was 1 week into my first loading dose of humira and was still bothered by the floaters...he said everything was fine...no detachments or tears...I am now 6 weeks into humira and still obsessing over the floaters b/c I think they are worse...again, my optometrist did an exam and said he sees them but that the eyes are fine...he said he would refer me to a retina specialist if it would put my mind at ease, so ofcourse I'm going to have him do that...could he humira be worsening my symptoms? it started 1 week prior to humira but I think its worse now...everyone thinks I'm nuts and obsessing (which I am and tend to do lately) but I don't want to put my vision at risk...if it was the humira, would the symptoms improve?...ofcourse if I stop this med this is nothing left as I wouldn't try the other TNF drugs b/c don't they all have similiar side effects?...maybe I should just have my jpouch removed and the stricture above the pouch...at least then I should have some relief from the crohn's for a short time (hopefully!)...

You know what, now that you mention, I did have alot of floaters when I was on humira,I actaully had alot of symptoms and told my GI NO MORE!!!! Now granted, when I started it,I was pretty much symptom free, but I also got drug induced lupus with the humira,it did help my stricture,so now that I'm off the med,he just widens it with the scope every so often. I think alot of people occasionally get floaters,I still do sometimes, but definately better since of Humira.

Good Luck turn

I really don't know how they could tell if it was the humira...I have an appt. with an opthamologist this week...I don't even know if the humira is helping...I thought it was initially but now I'm not too sure...I think my stricture is getting worse again, may need to go up on my entocort...I hate these meds...I've felt like crap since starting humira...I've had some good days but I'm tired of my body going thru changes as a result of this med...if it is causing my floaters, I want off...course that would leave me with trying remicade or cimzia...all same risks...

Goldy you said 1 week prior to humira you noticed increased floaters.
Increased floaters is one symptom of uvi*** which is an inflamitory eye condition common with AI disorders. See an opthamalogist not an optomitrist.

I don't have floaters but have noticed a huge change in my vision and it seems to have occured since starting Humira almost a year ago.  I've tried to notice if it gets worse after an injection, but can't seem to connect the two.  I had an eye exam in March and was told my eye sight got worse by 4 "steps" which they said is very rare at my age.  I've asked 3 doctors which of my meds could be doing this and none have been able to tell me (they thought the librax was, but it's not).  All have said not to worry about it if the eye dr. didn't see anything.  Easy to say when it's not your eyes.

Hey Goldy,

I've had issues with Crohn's-related intermediate uveitis for a while now.  I saw an eye doctor about it when my symptoms started (excessive floaters, flashes in vision) and said he could see the floaters, but referred me to a retina specialist for diagnosis.  I remember my symptoms weren't so bad when they first started, but then after a little while (probably about a week or so) they got worse... more floaters, more frequent flashes.  So it may just be a coincidence that your symptoms worsened when you started Humira.  I just started Humira a little over a month ago and my uveitis didn't seem to be affected.  Of course, as we know, everyone's different.

Anyway, the retina specialist will probably be able to tell you more, but I would assume it's uveitis.  It's a common problem for people with Crohn's.  Good luck with your appointment on Thursday.

My optometrist examined me for uveitis as he knows I have crohn's...he saw no evidence of inflammation and I don't seem to have any of the other symptoms except floaters...but who knows, this is why I am going to see an opthamologist tomorrow...if I do have it I want it treated asap...

well I saw the opthamologist today and he said that while he sees the floaters, my eyes look great...no signs of uveitis, no tears or detachments, vessels look good and he noted that my vision is amazingly good with my glasses (scored high on the eye chart)...stated that they can't do anything about the floaters but that if it got worse to go back...so I will let it go for now unless it gets worse...thanks for the support..

yea i get them too - a bit of a mystery i must say - they burnt themselves out fortunatley!! Do you get migranes by any chance? I was getting sinus migranes at the time which caused some of the floaters. Also - do you get them on standing - hows your blood pressure - low blood pressure on standing is another possbilility - and i think - no proof for this one but pure exhaustion - i'm sure you've got some degree of exhaustion - note if if gets worse then - seemed to with me!! Easier said than done i know but trying to relax if you get them may mean they don;t become as noticable - helped me with the floaters (& steroid palpitations)!
