I've been having some issues latley with my teeth and gums. My teeth have always been a top priority to me and have had great Dental visits with few problems. The pain now goes off and on.  I don't know if the inflammation is due to auto-immune or if I really do have infection. I have had an occasional CD mouth sore and this is different.  Recently, I had a crown and it just  taking a LONG time to heal! Now they want me to do a root canal. Talking to a Dentist about auto-immune is senseless. Seriously, I'm so sick of the medical world not understanding auto-immune diseases. If anyone has had any experience with this ......??? is it a sign of a flare? Thanks!

I know...I wish there were greater awareness of something that happens to be more common than cancer or coronary heart disease.

My teeth definitely became more sensitive after experiencing Crohn's for a year or so now though. It's so difficult to eat anything really cold anymore.

Do you think any of your medication might be causing a delayed healing response?

I have had teeth problems too. I believe it is due to all the nutrients lost during many flares of Crohn's. Also, from all the different kinds of medications tried etc... I have to have alot of work done as well. Like having Crohn's to deal with is not enough, I have to deal with all the side affects and further related issues lol
Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at age 10, now 38.  Have had 5 major surgeries.  Been through it all. Finally found relief about 3 years ago when I found a great GI Specialist that put me on Remicade. If you need any info, please send me message.

Thanks for starting this subject. For the past 8 weeks I have been driving my Dentist crazy with my complaints about "nerve pain" which seemed to start at the site of a root canal done 6 months ago. The dentist re-did the root canal to ensure that it was "clean" even though the xray looked clean. It felt a little better for 2 days then started up again. Pain was aggravated buy cold drink and got worse as each day went on. The worst part of each day is after lunch to bedtime and then it gets better as I sleep and for the 1st few hours of each day. BUT now here is the part that had me thinking I was loosing my mind. The 1st root canal was in the lower left and that is where the pain was but after a few weeks and after the 2nd root canal it mostly moved to the upper left AND after a couple weeks it moved to the upper middle teeth and now 8 weeks from the start I have daily teeth nerve pain from hot or cold from the LOWER middle teeth. My Dentist has been great but we have not found any reason. I have been resigned to blame a virus. So this just adds to this link and the crazy Crohn's patients with teeth problems. Best of luck, Frank
