Ok, so I need any advice or info you can give me.  I am trying to decide if I should continue to have my remicades during my pregnancy.  We are planning on "trying" the first of July and the plan was to continue my remicades this time, as I flared really badly with my first pregnancy and it took a year and a half of prednisone and remicade to get it under control.  We had decided the only way I would get pregnant again was if I could stay on my meds, and with all the research I've done, we were feeling ok about it, but now I'm panicking! If something happened to my baby I would never forgive myself.  But I also dont want to be so sick again, and I want another baby so badly! What should I do? ANY advice or information would be very appreciated.
25 year old woman, Dx with crohns 2004.  Currently on remicade 10mg/kg, Pentasa, Azathioprine, prednisone 15mg and weaning, glucosamine with chondroiten, Calcium with D, and a multi prenatal vitamin.
I have tried asacol, colazol, entocort, fiber tabs, and have to take phernergan, tylenol with codeine, and ativan once in a while when i flare badly.

I have 2 and 1/3 healthy remicade babies. :) I took remicade through pregnancy with my 1st and 2nd children. I was taking it during conception and the 1st trimester with my 3rd baby, but it had started to lose effectiveness for me (after 6 & 1/2 years) and so we switched to Humira. I finished out my pregnancy with baby #3 on Humira. Remicade was a life saver for me and I am CONVINCED it is what allowed me to be healthy enough to have children. My kids are healthy and intelligent, physically well, etc. I have been in your shoes and having "been-there, done-that" I would not hesitate to stay on remicade while pregnant at all. I also breastfed while on remicade too.

I can understand your jitters. I have the most beautiful living proof that you can take remicade while pregnant and have a completely successful outcome! There are other women on here too. I'm sure they'll come along and post soon, but you can search out "remicade and pregnancy" posts here. There are a ton of them!

Good luck TTC!!!

I am a 28 year old female I have never been preganant I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2003 and it has been about 6 years now. I am currently taking Imurans, Remicade, and Inron Pills for my blood. I would like to have a child one day but my doctor recommended that I don't b/c if I were to get pregnant I would have to stop taking my Imurans or stop taking my remicade treatments and muy condition is so under control now with both medications that if I were to stop I would relapse it will be difficult. The child will also be affected so I am not able to have babies so I wish anyone the best of luck b/c it is so hard when you want to have a baby and you cannot so good Luck!
