I had a CT Scan w/ barium enema yesterday. My GI just called and he wants to see me immediatly. I'm going in in an hour. What can he possibly have to see me so immediatly for? Please share your experiences. Anything that you have had happen in this situation. I can't wait...I'm freaking out! Thanks

Maybe a partial blockage. Try not to worry too much. This disease is frustrating, vent away...

Hoping things went well!
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

Thanks Ides- Yes, my GI found an abcess in my TI. Also, I am not responding to treatment at this time. My walls are very thick and a blockage is next if we don't take care of the situation. I am not sure how quick an abcess grows but it wasn't there 3 monthes ago. My GI is recommending a resection. There is not a surgeon here who can preform the surgery so I will have to go to San Diego. I am now waiting for my insurance company to approve the surgery and should be going for my consult in about 2 weeks. I am actually a bit excited. I am hoping for a long remission. I know it might not work out that way but lately I have been feeling very hopless. Nothing I have tried is working and depression is starting to set in. I am teriffied of becoming steriod dependent. If I could acheive remmision for 3- 5 years I would have time to get pregnant and have a baby before the disease returns. Is it weird that my doc told me yesterday I need surgery and I feel emotionally better than I have in monthes? Wish me luck!!

Tallgirl I just wanted to wish you good luck with your surgery. I live in the San Diego area myself. Also, don't be surprised if you do well even longer than 3-5 years. If you get on a good maintainence med after your surgery (such as 6mp/Imuran) you could go on to have an even longer remission. Good luck!
