Hello there. I am now into my third month since being diagnosed with CD. Prescribed Lialda 2.4 g per day. I have had follow-up visit with my GI and he feels I'm doing well on Lialda. However, I'm noticing two symptoms and hope you experienced folks can shed dome light on it:

1) Thin stools- I have Bowel movement once a day regularly, but my stools are thin. What might be the reason for this?

2) I'm okay most of the time, but a few times a day I feel small sensations around my stomach region- sometimes on the bottom-right side, sometimes in the middle and sometimes near the bottom-left side. Nothing severe but just a small poke like sensation and it just goes away. Any explanations?

Thanks and I wish the best for you all.

I've had both of these symptoms since before I was diagnosed ten years ago. They probably indicate inflammation and tenderness in your intestines and may not be a sign of anything more serious than that. You're doing well if you're having only one bowel movement a day (even if it's thin) and having occasional lower-abdominal discomfort.

Usually thin bowel movements mean that the body isn't quite completing the entire digestion process of well formed stool that break apart at the bottom of the toilet (meaning there is fiber in teh diet). I have had the thin symptom that conitnues into less and less formed stool all in the same bowel movement. Again, I think it's a fiber issue, something us Crohnies are terrifed of and desperately need.

As far as the senstations go, you're not supposed to notice any of that sort of stuff. So noticing it means the body is trying to tell you something. I would just keep track of what you might be eating and see if there is a pattern.
I am a pre-30yr. old who has been diagnosed with Crohn's for 14 years.  Symptoms change from cramping and weight loss to severe anemia with fatigue and diarrhea.
I'm DONE (D-O-N-E, DONE!!!) with immuno-suppressants.  Tremble, yee Pharmacuetical companies, for you will not withstand the aggressive onslaught of our healing!

Pain in your lower right side can indicate inflammation or swelling in the terminal illieum, because this spot is where the TI and colon meet, and its actually one of the most common spots for Crohns disease to occur in the first place.
