Hi everyone!
My Hubby & I are starting to think about having a baby!! Super exciting, but kinda nerve racking b/c you have to think everything out....  I got a script from my primary MD for a prenatal vitamins, it has 20mg Iron in it. I thought I would take half of it to start to see how I did then go from there, but it turns they are capsules so I can not split them. I see my OB/GYN at the end of the month. I am going to call my GI tom to discuss with him what I should take b/c the paperwork that came with the pill had some warning of caution.. what are your experiences with Prenatal vitamins? what did you take? How did you do with them? Thanks as always !!!

30 Year old Female. Dx with Crohns 2005. Currently take Imuran 50 mg. Had 3 remicade infusions which put me in remission.

Dx with Pyoderma Gangrenosum Nov '07. Used Prednisone and 3 more infusions to close up the PG.
I do believe everything happens for a reason, but I still am waiting to figure this one out :)

Prenatal I took an iron supplement that also had folic acid. I would check with your GI though just to make sure. Good luck with everything .

When I was pregnant and even still now for the breastfeeding I took the prenatal vitamin Materna, its found in all stores that sell vitamins and all, Walmart, any of those places. My friends took it and told me and I took it, I can't say I noticed anything one way or another, but my boy sure is a strong one now. For Materna you just take one a day, I always took it before bed, my friends said at first it made them sick, but I noticed nothing of that sorts myself

I appreciate what you have said so far!!! But I just wanted to bring it back to the top for more input.

I've been on them for over 3 years with no problems. My daughter was perfect despite my limited diet, so that says something for them. We're trying for another baby, so with that and nursing seems like I'll be on them for a decade. :)

Oh, I also take DHA supplements. Now recommended.
Hoping to stay in remission after the birth of a healthy baby girl. On Pentasa during my pregnancy, went med-free 2 months to nurse (stupid), but back on Pentasa and still nursing.

I was diagnosed in January of 2008.  Since then I had been on over the counter prenatal vitamins...I think I even took the walgreens brand.  When I got pregnant in February, my OB gave me prescription ones.  I have had no problems.
Diagnosed with crohn's in January 2008!
Pentasa 1000 mg 4 times a day

I am 28 years old and have been married for 3 years.  My husband and I are expecting our first child in November!

I've never had an issue with vitamins (pre-natal or otherwise). However, my gi suggested that if I do, then to switch to Flintstones. I've also heard this advice given to other preggie's w/out bowel issues.
