Hi there

I noticed from a few posts that you have had 2 resections and you tend towards C rather than D symptoms. My doctor is saying surgery has worked and doesn't need to see me for a few months for colonoscopy so he's not worried about relapse at the moment, and should do what I want. Do you know why you needed another resection within 2 years of the first one? did you have symptoms inbetween? I am doing a low fat (explosive D if each too much fat) and fairly low fibre diet because I am worried about obstructions (both mechanical or active CD) - but am finding more formed BMs mean more soreness and small cuts so not sure what is best. Guess I'm probably being too anxious but it was a major shock and I've not got much small bowel left to play with so want to be able to do as much as I can to reduce risks.

Hope you don't mind these questions - most posts seem to be around people having bad D & other symptoms or side effects of meds; just wanting to check with someone whose history is even remotely similar to mine

Thanks very much

Penny

I had to have another resection so soon because I developed really bad nausea all of a sudden and discovered that I have developed another stricture at the reconnection site. I now stay on a low residue diet all the time, take stool softners nightly to keep my stools a little softer and easier to pass, and always take some kind of maintainence med. This works well for "ME".

I am in remission with my guts right now, but I can tell you my joints are horrible. Oh the joys of Crohns:) Anyways, hope that helps.

thanks for your reply - I know food can't cause CD directly but I'm not going to give it any chance to block my system up. I'm always more anxious if I get constipated - a cigarette used to do the trick but I've stopped smoking now so need to do other things. My friends can't believe how healthily I'm eating now!!

Thanks again - I want to get on with my life and be less fearful; it helps that others are there to share so i'm not floundering around by myself  smilewinkgrin
