Hello everyone,

I just found this forum so I have a lot of reading to do but I just wanted to ask if anyone would have any good advice or suggestions and help us.

My mum has been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease few years back and she already had 2 surgeries. The inflammations is in intestines and digestive tract.

The first was the worst where a big amounts of her intestines have been removed. The second was just cleaning the accretions from the intestines.

She is a very strong woman and she recovered very well. Apart from the few attacks she has (2 a month in average) she is doing very well as far as the disease is concerned.

However, she has other diagnoses which I feel in connection with the disease are just the worst for her.

She has high blood pressure and get these hot flashes, excessive sweating and she doesn't sleep at all. She has bad reaction to the Crohns medicine, she developt psoriasis recently and has cysts around her uterus and ulcer as well.

She is very bad with handling stress and is constantly sad, anxious, upset or angry about something. I can't get her to stop thinking about the bad in our lifes and just concentrate on what’s really important.

I'm looking for some alternative medicine what has proven for someone already to help. Especially for the excessive sweating, hot flashes and insomnia. Something that won't affect the disease and very well digested. I tried homeopathics but now I started looking into alternative medicine and Chinese medicine.

I would really appreciate if someone would give me advice where to start and what really worked well for them.

Thanks very much

My mother also has Crohn's which caused many other problems for her. Including blod clots, restless legs, insomnia, among others. She takes melonin for the insomnia. I'm not sure where she buys it, but she says without she wouldn't get any sleep. She can't take drug sleep aids cuz she's also on comadine as a blood thinner for the blood clots. Hope that helps

Is she on Prednisone by any chance?  I had those reactions from Prednisone.  They went away when I went off.
Just finished prednisone taper of 40mg in 6 weeks.  We'll see if it works.

Is she having "the change?" There is nothing "proven" in all cases, so with crohn's medications is hit or miss. With having 2 surgeries in short of period of time, it might help to tell us what crohns medications she is on?

There is nothing that has been "proven" to work for everyone even on the alternative side, but pb4 has a protocol that works for her. Hopefully she will stop by.

Hi, My husband an dI both take Align probiotics and fish oil with borage oil and primrose oil. My husband does not have Crohn's, but he has psoriasis. We also wash our clothes only in the 'free' detergents. Since he's been doing this in the last month and a half, his psoriasis is almost gone. He's been battling it for at least the last two years, so this is a Godsend. I have Crohn's. The fish oil has also brought both of our cholesterol levels down. My acupuncturist gave me Isatis Cooling for intestinal inflammation. I also take vitamin D, turmeric, a multivitamin, osteo-biflex and prescription Mobic for the pain of my arthritis. My gut has been feeling fine. I mostly take all of these things to calm my intestines and hopefully mitigate the Crohn's related arthritis. Something I'm doing seems to be keeping my gut feeling OK.

Also, I believe the previous poster is referring to Melatonin for a natural sleep aid.

Best of luck!
