As far as I know, I don't have any fistulas. But as I fight my second flare (for two months now) I wonder how I will know if I develop one or more? Since I can't look "back there" easily: Do they hurt? Are they obvious to the touch? Do they "seep"? I imagine fistulas to the bladder would be obvious, but inter-intestinal ones seem like they'd be difficult to know about.

mine is a rectal fistula. it caused a lot of bleeding, but has been "calm" for a long time (knock on wood). it has not been a problem, compared to my other issues. I'm sure someone else can better relate. good luck.

Hi I had one from small to large bowel and also had a large abcess seemed they all were found about the same time.As far as knowing that it was there I had small bowel follow threw, and barium enenama .I don't know if there were signs of having them or not but did have alot of pain and blockages around that time. I had surgery which took out the bad sections . Of course if they come to the skin it is very noticeable and developed one after abscess surgery. lol gail
