I just spent 5 days in the hospital, it was the first time I have ever been admitted in 9 years. I was diagnosed with UC for the past 9 years, but just got re-diagnosed with Crohn's. My doctors have always suspected crohn's was a possibility, but now in my most recent flare I had vomiting and a anal abscess.

The hospital was horrible, I am all bruised from 4 IV's and pic line they had to insert. They finally sent me home on Cipro to fight infection and Prednisone.

I am now extremely fatigued and trying to get some nutrition. I have worked my way up to supplement drinks and soy yogurt and bananas.

I guess I am not sure if it will be beneficial to add in more solid foods to try and help with the diareah. I can't imagine all liquids will help solidify my stool, but im sure it is easy on the intestines...

Advice????

Thanks!

Welcome, poohbear, and I'm sorry about your new diagnosis.

As far as introducing new foods go, it's very hard for us to give advice because only you can know when you're ready. All I can say is take it gradually: you've done well trying bananas, so maybe an egg or a piece of white toast or some white rice in milk/ soy milk might work now?

Most of the powdered nutrition supplements have some, if not quite a bit of fiber -- like 5-6 grams a serving. like this one you can get a whole foods:
http://www.amazinggrass.com/amazing-meal-pomegranate-mango.html

then you add a banana approx 2.5 grams

and a peach: 1.5 grams

And you are getting 10 grams of fiber/drink

Some people underestimate the fiber in smoothies. This might be a gentle way to reintroduce fiber into your diet. :)
strictures, crohn's, adhesions, endo. fighting Pyoderma Gangrenosum.
Trying LDN 3.5mg nightly ~ because I'm allergic to pentasa and 5ASA's I'm taking Boswellia Serrata. SCD yogurt. Using silver sulfadiazine on Pyoderma . B-12 shots. Juicing veggies!
