I have never had normal poops since I have had Crohns. Its either diarrhea or constipation. When I flare I get alot of diarrhea, I am in remission right now and its constipation. In fact I have to take stool softners everynight or else I am in trouble. Good luck!

Don't expect it. In my experience, you can't expect much of anything. Not to say things won't improve, but CD does what it wants when it wants. I have had diarrhea for the better part of that last 10 years, even after my resection. Never figured that part out. I found that Fibercon does wonders for adding bulk to my bm's and it lessens the severity. Also keep in mind that everyone is different and handles CD different.

I have regular BM's a couple times a week but the rest are loose or "D". I think my body is trying to adjust after surgery.

I started having normal BMs on pred after about a week. I had bad side effects (severe leg pain) and had to get off. After getting off the prednisone the D came back.
Just finished prednisone taper of 40mg in 6 weeks.  We'll see if it works.

I've had normal (or relatively normal) semi-formed BM's since the beginning of the yr when I went onto antibiotics flagyl and amoxycillin for an abscess. I found they really helped 'form' things up. I also know pred helps with formed BM's but it's not guarenteed I don't think. The main thing is the pred should make you feel better tummy-wise..... less pain, more energy. Have you felt the benefits yet? I love the speed of Pred!

Yep, it is pretty rare for me to have normal BM's. I'm like Nanners--it's either C or D. Once in a blue moon my stools are formed and normal and I'm always amazed! Good luck!

Yes mine hits very early in the morning – around 5am – I used to have a pattern, getting up at 1am then 3am and then 5am, it was like clockwork,. Fortunately things have settled down for me a bit now so I just get up around 5-6am, before waking at 6:30 to get ready for work…..

I don’t know the amount of times I’ve gone to the bathroom ‘in my sleep’ and barely remembered it the next day. I am like the eternal sleepwalker turn

I went into the hospital after having my first official flare up over the period of two weeks, having D every ten minutes (not an exaggeration). I was tanking out when we decided I needed IV fluids so I went into the Emergency department. My doctor hit me hard with hydrocortisone (IV form of prednisone), flagyl and cipro. Prednisone works as a mask, so while you might be feeling great, it doesn't mean that your body is healthy. That's what happened to me. I felt better, but my tests were saying I wasn't. ANYWAY. My bm's weren't regular even after the meds, and I was in the hospital for two weeks exactly. During that entire time my bm's changed consistency, but were not "normal" and definitely not on a schedule. I came off my IV and started taking all my meds orally for the last 3/4 of my last week in the hospital. Prednisone was my last oral switch over. My bm's became formed once I was on it orally, but it wasn't back to normal until a week after I got out. Now I go twice a day (compared to my once three times a week), but it's been much better. Ever case is different, though, but that was my experience with regulating.
